Have you prayed Fajr, every day with the group, in the Masjid?

Did you mention Allah and Glorify Him after each prayer?
Did you keep the extra prayers (Sunnah) before or after each prayer?
Were you concentrating daily on your prayers by meditating on what you said in your prayers?
Have you remembered Death and the Tomb today?
Have you thought about the Day of Judgment and its overwhelming hardship?
Have you asked Allah three times to permit you into Paradise? Because if you say: Oh Allah, permit me into Paradise- three times, the Paradise will reply: Oh Allah, allow him/her to enter me. (Tirmidhi)
Have you asked Allah to protect you from the Hellfire today, three times? If you did the Hellfire will say: Oh Allah, protect him/her from me. (Tirmidhi)
Did you read a Hadith about the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) today?
Haven't you thought about being away from those who are evil doers?
Have you tried to avoid laughing and joking too much or too often?
Did you thank Allah for bestowing on you the hearing, sight, good heart, and all the other gifts?
Did you pay charity today to the poor and needy?
Did you get angry for your own sake or for the sake of Allah?
Did you avoid arrogance and self-admiration?
Have you cried today out of the fearness of Allah?
Did you mention Allah after Fajr or Isha prayer?
Have you asked Allah to forgive you from the sins and transgressions that you have committed, by making (astaghfirullah) seeking forgiveness from sins?
Did you ask Allah sincerely and honestly today to grant you Shahadat (martyrdom)? The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said: "The one who asks Allah sincerely to grant him/her Shahadat, Allah will grant it to him/her
even though he/she dies in his/her bed. (Muslim)
Did you ask Allah to stabilize your heart and you religion?
Did you take the opportunity to make dua (supplication) in the hours that Allah accepts them?
Did you buy a new Islamic book for the sake of learning from it the knowledge of the religion?
Did you seek forgiveness for the Believers, men and women, alive or dead, because if you did, Allah will reward you for each of them.
Did you thank Allah for His Blessings on you, by making you Muslim and for the Blessings of Islam?
Did you visit a brother or sister for the sake of Allah?
Did you invite people to Allah, your family, your brothers, sisters, or neighbors, or those whom you have been in contact with?
Were you kind to your parents today?
Have you faced a problem and did you say: Inna lellaahi wa innaa ilaihir raaje'oon (By Allah we are created and to Him we shall return)?
Have you made dua by saying,"Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You, from the things I have committed wrongfully and knowingly. And I seek forgiveness for the things that I have committed without my knowledge." If you say this, Allah will wipe off the big sins and the small sins.

Story of a Wrestler
Junaid Baghdadi earned his livelihood as a professional wrestler. As was the norm, the Leader of Baghdad announced one day, "Today, Junaid Baghdadi will demonstrate his skills as a wrestler, is there anyone to challenge him." An elderly man shakily stood up with his neck quivering and said, "I will enter the contest with him."
Whoever was witness to this scene could not contain themselves, they burst out howling with laughter, clapping their hands. The King was bound by the law. He could not stop someone who of his own free will entered the bout. The elderly man was given the permission to enter the ring. He was about sixty-five years old. When Junaid Baghdadi entered the ring, he was dumbfounded as was the King and all the spectators of the Kingdom who were present. The single thought that occupied their minds was, "How will this old man be able to fight?"
The old man addressed Junaid with these words, "Lend me your ears." He then whispered, "I know it is not possible for me to win this bout against you, but I am a Sayyid, a descendant of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). My children are starving at home. Are you prepared to sacrifice your name, your honour and position for the love of Allah's Prophet and lose this bout to me? If you do this I will be able to collect the prize money and thereby have the means to feed my children and myself for an entire year. I will be able to settle all my debts and above all, the master of both the worlds will be pleased with you. Are you, Oh Junaid, not willing to sacrifice your honour for the sake of the children of Rasulullah (peace be upon him)?"
Junaid Baghdadi thought to himself, "Today, I have an excellent opportunity."
In a display of fervour Junaid Baghdadi executed a couple of maneuvers, demonstrating his finesse so that the King does not suspect any conspiracy. Junaid with a great display of antics did not use his strength and allowed himself to be dropped. The elderly man mounted his chest thus entitling him to the prize.
That night, Junaid Baghdadi had a dream of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who said, "Oh Junaid, you have sacrificed your honour, your nationally acclaimed fame, your name and position which was heralded throughout Baghdad in the expression of your love for my children who were starving. As of today, your name is recorded in the register of the Auliya (friends of Allah)."
Thereafter, this great wrestler learnt to defeat his nafs (desires) and became one of the most eminent Auliya of his time!

The Muslim Teenager in a Chaotic World
This article is a personal look at the world of the Muslim teenager living in Modernday Britain. It aims to paint a critical picture of the pressures and influences faced by young muslims as they grow up and the importance of Deen in overcoming and dealing with these problems. The article is not aimed at being an inclusive guide to all that Young Muslims need to know in bringing Deen into their lives, but to the contrary I hope it acts as a stimulant for further and more proper steps towards finding out more, i.e. via further reading, consultation with the Ulama and the significance of attending, if possible, an Islamic teaching institution.Anyone briefly interested in Sociology would know that many theorists argue that - The way we live our lives and grow up is not a personal thing, instead it is decided and shaped by the society we live in. Now as a teenager a number of years ago if somebody said that to me, it wouldn't mean a thing let alone make me bothered or concerned, but what would have been astonishing to hear is that, I am just another marketing target for people to make money off and that am always fed information about life according to the perspective of people who don't know or don't care anything about my religion, my family life nor my heritage.The two things mentioned above are commonly to do with:( a) Capitalism: which basically means to make huge profits (greedy amounts of money) whatever it takes! ( b) The Media: which is the name given to institutions who make money by providing news or entertainment such as Newspapers, Television programme makers, Films and Film makers, Showbiz Magazines and those to do with the Music industry.Capitalism is a very powerful system as almost all countries want to be part of it, simply because they want to become more wealthier and more advanced. In a very simplistic example it is all about competing with others and spending as less money as possible to make massive amounts of profit. There are countless examples of this dominant behaviour. For instance, many multi-national companies like Nike have been accused of getting their products made in third world countries like Bangladesh where the cost of employing someone is dramatically less than it is in Europe. They then sell them on to us in Britiain for extortionate prices (eg. a hundred pounds for a pair of trainers). Big companies like Car manufacturers would often agree to fix prices so that the customer is unaware they are paying more - again to make Billions of pounds of profit.In fact, by now you may probably be wondering well where does the Muslim Teenager fit into all this. Well, my dear brothers and sisters Capitalism is a very clever system becuase it never runs out of areas to make money and one of it's biggest places where it makes ridiculous amounts of money is in the Teenage market. Teenagers in Britain as in all western countries are big buisness, simply becuase unlike in poor countries where young people mostly seek above all a better standard of living, the modern day teenager has become addicted to a life of luxury. Therefore, teenagers via the Media (as will be discussused shortly) are bombarded with expectations to be fashionable, trendy, and be more concerned with image and lifestyle than with leading a good life. The Muslim Teenager is also part of this chaotic world simply because he or she is exposed to this material culture in almost all aspects of their life, whether it's at school, at home, or with friends.In fact, I do not wish to condem anybody but I would like to use this opportunity to point out to my young brothers and sisters that some will say to you that you are going through a phase and that when you get older you will probably laugh at yourself, but what ever you enjoy, whether it's fashionable clothes or a trendy image you have to bear in mind that Muslims have always been the icon of the rest of the world for their simplistic but yet productive way of life. Even if the simple and humble way of Islam appears very unattractive to some of my brothers and sisters I would like to ask you to consider some mere ethical questions:1. Think about where and who made your trendy gear?2. How much does it really costs to make it? i.e. Did it really cost the price on the tag?3.Who really benefits more: your image or the pockets of fat cat company executives?The second alarming thing to hear is that what you read, watch and listen to is decided by a very powerful institution called the Media. The Media is not simply one particular person or a group, infact it is the entire system of newspapers, magazines, television programmes and movies by which we get information and entertainment in society. On the outset they seem perfectly harmless but many writers and commentators. mainly non-Muslim will tell you that your lifestyle, choices and ideas are decided by what you pick up from the Media. This may seem harsh to believe but just pick up any media studies text book or watch any news programme to find out more.The media is held responsible for promoting young people to be thin, attractive and trendy like famous celebrities and seek things which everyone else is supposedly seeking: a perfect partner and poupularity amongst people. It also, for want of a better word, brainwashes you to see things in terms of , what your lead to believe is, the values of the rest of society. So, you find yourself analysing problems acording to knowledge gained from watching soaps like Eastenders and talkshows like The Ricki Lake show and you may even be directly or indirectly influenced by reading agony aunt pages in teenage showbiz magazines. Although, this seems like an extreme version of how teenage Muslims find answers to life's problems, personal inquiries tell me that the magnetic effect of drawing from these types of sources is so powerful that it overshadows other ways of seeing things. For instance, we may question the judgement of our elders and subsequently openly welcome advice given by TV personalities who may sound sympathetic despite not having a clue about our culture and family ties.Many Sociologists argue that the British Media does not represent adequately the muti-cultural dimension to British life. It is accused of discriminating against people outside London, people from ethnic minority groups and especiallyagainst the belief and views of religious groups such as Muslims. Recently, there has been an increased concern about the 'Islamophobic' attitude of the Media, as Muslims are very unfairly and poorly represented. Examples include the constant hammering of the stereo-type of practising Muslims as terrorists and a danger to public life.In summary, this article is not intended to uncover a particular conspiracy theory, but to highlight to young Muslims that although the material culture of the west is difficult to escape, it is highly imperitive that Muslim teenagers maintain a slight if not complete awareness of exactly what is going on in this seemingly cosy society of ours. Being critical does not mean you have to be a monk distant from all your family and friends, but to be a bit more aware that although we live a comfortable life in Britain we should not easily be distracted or exploited by the Media and greedy multi-national companies out to shape our belief s and values as well as rip us off.Whilst these Satanic institutions aim and try so hard to kep us busy we must bear in mind that Islam gives the young person a very high and rewarding role of being dedicated and active followers of the true Deen. There are countless rewards available for the young person who fights the ills of the temptations of this world in return for the sanctitiy of the hearafter and to those who can see beyond the fake surface of the Media and Capitalism.

"Don't Be Sad"

When you wake up in the morning do not expect to see the evening -live as though today is all that you have. Yesterday has passed with its good and evil, while tomorrow has not yet arrived.
Your life's span is but one day, as if you were born in it and will die at the end of it. With this attitude, you will not be caught between an obsession over the past, with all its anxieties, and the hopes of the future, with all its uncertainty.
For today only should you expend energies, concerns, and efforts. In this day you should pray with a wakeful heart, recite the Qur'an with understanding, and remember Allah with sincerity.
In this day you should be balanced in your affairs, satisfied with your allotted portion, concerned with your appearance and health. Organize the hours of this day, so that you make years out of minutes and months out of seconds.
Seek forgiveness from your Lord, remember Him, prepare for the final parting from this world, and live today happily and at peace. Be content with your sustenance, your wife, your children, your work, your house and your station in life.
"So hold that which I have given you and be of the grateful." Surah Al-A'raf – Ayah 144.
Live today free from sorrow, bother, anger, jealousy, and malice. You must engrave onto your heart one phrase: Today is my only day.
If you have eaten warm, fresh bread today, then what does yesterday's dry, rotten bread and tomorrow's anticipated bread matter?
If you are truthful with yourself and have a firm, solid resolve, you will undoubtedly convince yourself of the following: Today is my last day to live.
When you attain this attitude, you will profit from every moment of your day, by developing your personality expanding your abilities, and purifying your deeds.

Children 'starving' in new Iraq
Increasing numbers of children in Iraq do not have enough food to eat and more than a quarter are chronically undernourished, a UN report says.
Malnutrition rates in children under five have almost doubled since the US-led invasion - to nearly 8% by the end of last year, it says.
The report was prepared for the annual meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva.
It also expressed concern over North Korea and Sudan's Darfur province.
Jean Ziegler, a UN specialist on hunger who prepared the report, blamed the worsening situation in Iraq on the war led by coalition forces.
He was addressing a meeting of the 53-nation commission, the top UN rights watchdog, which is halfway through its annual six-week session.
When Saddam Hussein was overthrown, about 4% of Iraqi children under five were going hungry; now that figure has almost doubled to 8%, his report says.
Governments must recognise their extra-territorial obligations towards the right to food and should not do anything that might undermine access to it of people living outside their borders, it says.
That point is aimed clearly at the US, but Washington, which has sent a large delegation to the Human Rights Commission, declined to respond to the charges, says the BBC's Imogen Foulkes in Geneva.
Increasing hunger
Mr Ziegler also said he was very concerned about the lack of food in North Korea, where there are reports that UN food aid is not being distributed fairly.
In Darfur, the continuing conflict has prevented people from planting vital crops, he said.
Overall, Mr Ziegler said he was shocked by the fact that hunger is actually increasing worldwide.
Some 17,000 children die every day from hunger-related diseases, the report claims, calling the situation a scandal in a world that is richer than ever before.
"The silent daily massacre by hunger is a form of murder," Mr Ziegler said. "It must be battled and eliminated."

A Traditional New Year's
Ancient cultures, including those as varied as the Romans and the Hindus, celebrated New Year's Day on April 1. It closely follows the vernal equinox (March 20th or March 21st.) In medieval times, much of Europe celebrated March 25, the Feast of Annunciation, as the beginning of the new year.
In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (the Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar called for New Year's Day to be celebrated Jan. 1. Many countries, however, resisted the change. In fact, some European countries held out for centuries (Scotland until 1660; Germany, Denmark, and Norway until 1700; and England until 1752).
Many French Refuse
In 1564 France adopted the reformed calendar and shifted New Year's day to Jan. 1. However, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New Year's Day April 1.
Other people began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on "fool's errands" or trying to trick them into believing something false.
April Fish
The French came to call April 1 Poisson d'Avril, or "April Fish." French children sometimes tape a picture of a fish on the back of their schoolmates, crying "Poisson d'Avril" when the prank is discovered.
Great Britain Accepts the Calendar
In 1752, Great Britain finally changed over to the Gregorian Calendar, and April Fool's Day began to be celebrated in England and in the American colonies.
Pranks and jokes are of course still popular on this day—not to mention the rest of the year.
APRIL FOOL
Most of us celebrate April fool day every year and fool each other. But how many of us know the bitter facts hidden behind it. It was around a thousand years ago that Spain was ruled by Muslims. And the Muslim power in Spain was so strong that it couldn't be destroyed. The Christians of the west wished to wipe out Islam from all parts of the world and they did succeed to quite an extent. But when they tried to eliminate Islam in Spain and conquer it, they failed. They tried several times but never succeeded. The unbelievers then sent their spies in Spain to study the Muslims there and find out what was the power they possessed and they found that their power was TAQWA . The Muslims of Spain were not just Muslims but they were practicing Muslims. They not only read the Quran but also acted upon it. When the Christians found the power of the Muslims they started thinking of strategies to break this power. So they started sending alcohol and cigarettes to Spain free of cost. This technique of the west worked out and it started weakening the faith of the Muslims in particular the young generation of Spain.
The result was that the Catholics of the west wiped out Islam and conquered the entire Spain bringing an end to the EIGHT HUNDRED LONG YEARS' RULE OF THE MUSLIMS in Spain. The last fort of the Muslims to fall was Grenada (Gharnatah), which was on the 1st of April. From that year onwards, every year they celebrate April fools day on the 1st of April, celebrating the day, they made a fool of the Muslims. They did not make a fool of the Muslim army at Gharnatah only, but of the whole Muslim Ummah.
We, the Muslims, were fooled by the unbelievers. They have a reason to celebrate April fool day, to keep up the spirit. Dear brothers and sisters, when we join in this celebration, we do so out of ignorance. If we had known about it, we would never have celebrated our own downfall. So now, that we are aware of it, and now let us promise that we shall never celebrate this day. We should learn our lesson from the people of Spain, and shall try to become practicing Muslims, never to let anybody weaken our faith.
Please forward this message to as many people you know. The more people you forward it to the greater will be the reward from your Lord in this world and the hereafter. Please try to do it before the 1st of April, to create awareness that WE ARE NOT FOOLS ANYMORE.

This technique of the west worked out and it started weakening the faith of the Muslims in particular the young generation of Spain.
The result was that the Catholics of the west wiped out Islam and conquered the entire Spain bringing an end to the EIGHT HUNDRED LONG YEARS' RULE OF THE MUSLIMS in Spain. The last fort of the Muslims to fall was Grenada (Gharnatah), which was on the 1st of April. From that year onwards, every year they celebrate April fools day on the 1st of April, celebrating the day, they made a fool of the Muslims. They did not make a fool of the Muslim army at Gharnatah only, but of the whole Muslim Ummah.
We, the Muslims, were fooled by the unbelievers. They have a reason to celebrate April fool day, to keep up the spirit. Dear brothers and sisters, when we join in this celebration, we do so out of ignorance. If we had known about it, we would never have celebrated our own downfall. So now, that we are aware of it, and now let us promise that we shall never celebrate this day. We should learn our lesson from the people of Spain, and shall try to become practicing Muslims, never to let anybody weaken our faith.

In July 1999 two teenage boys repeatedly stabbed their friend (all three boys lived in Harrogate, Yorkshire) and left him for dead at the bottom of a 30ft cliff after watching a video of a horror film, Scream- in which college students are brutally stabbed.
We have been commanded by Allah to save ourselves and our families from the fire of Hell. The Prophet peace be upon him is reported to have said that you should command your children to perform salaah when they reach the age of seven and beat them (enforce them) to perform prayers at the age of 10 years. How are we going to achieve this when a recent study conducted by scientists found that for every hour of television watched daily, toddlers faced a 10 per cent increased risk of having attention problems by the age of seven. The scientists suggest toddlers suffer brain damage from watching even small amounts..

Research suggests that parents who put young children in front of the television are leaving them prone to concentration problems, impulsiveness and restlessness by school age,. Recent studies have revealed a worrying prominence of television in young children’s lives, alongside a boom in pre-school programmes such as Fimbles, Tweenies and Teletubbies. The latter is thought to have almost a billion viewers around the world.
According to research from the Broadcating Standards Council, children who have access to digital or satellite watch 35 minutes more on average than those with terrestrial channels alone. Watching Scooby Doo on a loop is just one of the privileges that children of a previous generation never enjoyed. More disturbing were the chilling scenes in the BBC’s Child of Our Time, in which toddlers could be seen enacting a hammer attack against a doll which they had just viewed being beaten on television.

Thawbaan (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: “The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish. Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied: No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the hearts of your enemy and cast ‘wahn’ into your hearts. Someone asked: What is wahn. The Messenger of Allah: He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death. ” (Related by Imam Ahmad with strong chains of reporters and Abu Dawud).
So people are made to desire the wealth and riches portrayed on the TV. The more a person has the more he craves to increase in his possession. He will never remain satisfied.I wonder at that person who believes in Paradise and the eternal life of the Hereafter should hanker after this world.
In the Daily Express, 28th July 2004, a leading doctor has blamed TV shows as Big Brother for the shocking rise in sexual diseases. Their real concern is to tackle the spread of infection whereas Allah says; “ O you who believe, Do go near to zina.” Do not indulge in any activity that will case you to commit adultery or fornication.

Says Almighty Allah: “And there are among men those who purchase idle talk in order to mislead others from Allah’s path without knowledge, and who throw ridicule upon it. For such there will be a humiliating punishment.” (Luqmaan 31:6)
Al-Aalusi relates that Al-Hasan Al-Basri was reported as saying that ‘lahwal hadeeth’ includes “everything which distracts one from worship and the remembrance of Allah such as whiling the night in idle conversation or entertainment, jokes, superstitious tales, songs and the likes thereof.” Al-Aalusi supports this view, saying that the verse should be interpreted to include all such blameworthy words and deeds which divert one from Allah’s plan.
From what has preceded, it is to be understood that undoubtedly, the viewing of television, movies and the playing of violent video games falls under the general censure, blame and rebuke cast upon those who fall into this category.
In these days of moral turpitude every sunshine heralds a greater widespread of spiritual retrogression, tyranny and disaster. Our society is riddled with social maladies- drug abuse, violence, murder, rape….Today, one in four teenagers has committed a crime and parents are threatened with prosecution if their children persistently play truant. About 1.25 million of all young people have committed a criminal offence in the last 12 months, according to a draft official report on youth justice.Children as young as 13 are starting to experiment with drugs and these early users are more likely to move on to hard drugs such as heroin.
So as not to leave any room for doubt in the mind of the conscientious, truth-seeking believer I deem it necessary to turn to some real life situations.
A Daily Mail survey found a shocking range of violent games widely available on the high street and over the internet with minimal checks on the buyer’s age. Stefan Pakeerah a pleasant, harmless 14 year old was killed by his 17 year old friend in emulation of one such game-Manhunt- in which the ‘hero’ slaughters everyone who crosses his path, for no reason whatever beyond the fun of causing death.Thus a young man was obliterated as if he were a blip on the screen. Our children are born into an age where computer games celebrate and even glorify brutality for its own sake.
Research has shown that 12 to 14-year olds became markedly more aggressive the longer they played violent games.So watch out for the following games: Manhunt, Unreal Tournament, Hitman Contracts, Soldier of Fortune II , Grand Theft Auto 3, State of Emergency, The Suffering, Doom III. Michael Carneal, 14, serving life for killing three students during a 1997 gun rampage at a school in Kentucky enjoyed playing violent video games such as Doom and Redneck Rampage. In Doom III , Hell has opened and released the undead onto a terrified world. Players must destroy them and then enter the underworld itself or the world will succumb to evil. Players ‘survive by killing, killing and killing’. The original version is said to have played a part in the Columbine high school massacre.
Hamish McRae writes in the Independent: ‘Watch out: television makes us unhappy. TV damages society in two ways: it makes people more violent and makes them less satisfied with what they have.The impact of violence has been well documented. You can measure how children become more aggressive the more time they spend watching the box.’
On 20 April 1999 in the Columbine high school in Denver the teenagers responsible for the massacre of twelve fellow pupils as well as a male teacher were said to be influenced and inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio’s drug addicted student character in the film, Basketball Diaries” in which he guns down teachers and classmates at a school wearing a black trenchcoat. A 15 year old student went on a shooting spree at his high school, near Atlanta, leaving six pupils in hospital. The attack came exactly a month after the Denver massacre in America
Hollywood broke into a cold sweat as the parallels between the Denver massacre and a host of popular “killer teen” flicks became clear, I came across an article in the Independent Review on 5 May 2004 entitled, We’re all doomed (to watch disaster movies). Hollywood’s latest blockbuster promises epic death and destruction.There is a case that being allowed to look at so many levels of cinematic torture or cruelty only builds indifference to such things.Palestine: the suffering goes on. Iraq: the killings have escalated.
In the US, a 12-year old boy was convicted of murder when he killed a six-year old girl after copying a move he saw on a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) show.Teenagers who watch TV wrestling are more likely to be violent and anti-social, according to a new study.
Two teenage students from the Hadlow Agricultral College in Kent , obsessed with horror videos and worshipping the devil, meticulously plotted the death of their best friend, stabbing him twenty times, burning his body with barbecue lightener and mutilated it before returning to bury it in a shallow grave. They even ignored his cries for mercy.
Horror videos which included the titles ‘Children of the Corn’, ‘The Evil Dead’, including the Hollywood film, ‘Scream’ as well as the British thriller, ‘Shallow Grave’ were found in the boys’ rooms. ‘Scream’ featured a group of friends on holiday who were attacked by a knife-wielding murderer. ‘The Evil Dead’ showed a zombie coming to life and attacking youths with an axe and carried it a sheet before burying it in woods.

Virtues of Reciting the Holy Qur'an
1 - Reading and reflecting over the Quran fulfils an Islamic duty. Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) summarized this Religion (Islam) when he said:The Religion is sincerity (Naseeha)! So then Tameem ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We asked, To whom? He said: To Allah, HIS BOOK, His Messenger, the leaders of the people, and their common folk.The sincerity that is due to the Book of Allah includes its regular recitation, learning the rules of reciting it correctly and beautifully, learning its explanation, and the reasons for its revelation, affirming that it is the Truth, the perfect Speech of Allah, honoring it and defending it, abiding by the orders and prohibitions found in it, teaching it and calling to it. Thus by reading and pondering over the Quran, one fulfills an obligation and is rewarded for that. Upon fulfilling this obligation, the Quran then becomes a proof for him on the Day of Judgment! This takes us to the second benefit.
2 - The Quran will be a proof for us on the Day of Judgment. This is due to the Hadith of Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam):And the Quran is a proof for you or against you.So on the Day of Judgment, the Qur'an will either be in your favor, or it will be a proof against you. Who could be saved from the terrors of that Day if Allahs own Speech is against him?!?! Think carefully, and consider your position with the Quran! Are you neglecting it, contradicting it, ignoring its orders and prohibitions, are you thinking deeply over it?! Will it be on your side on the Day of Judgment.?!
3 - The Quran will intercede for us on the Day of Judgment.Abu Umaamah (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:
"Recite the Qur'an as it will come on the Day of Judgement as an intercessor for those who used to memorise and recite it." [ Reported by Muslim]
Nawwaas bin Sam'aan (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "The Qur'an and its people, those who used to act upon it in the world, will be brought on the Day of Judgement. However, Sooratul-Baqarah and Sooratul-Imraan will precede them and argue in favour of those who memorised and recited these soorah's (in this life)." [Reported by Muslim]
4 - Your status in this life will be raised.In Saheeh Muslim, there is this beautiful story, that shows how a man from the people of Jannah (Paradise), Umar ibn Al-Khattab, understood this principle.
Some men came to question him during his khilaafah (reign)about the leadership of Mekkah, they asked, Who do you use to govern Mekkah?
He said, Ibn Abzaa.
They asked, And who is Ibn Abzaa?
Umar replied, A freed slave from those we freed.
They remarked, You left a freed slave in charge of the people of the Valley (the noble tribes of the Quraysh)!?!? So he answered them, Verily he is a reader of the Book of Allah and is Knowledgeable about the obligations of the Muslims. Havent you heard the statement of your Messenger?Verily Allah raises some people by this Book and lowers others by it. [ Reported by Muslim]
5 - You will be from the best of the people.Uthman Ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:The best of you are the ones who learn the Quran and teach it to others [Reported by Bukhari]
6 - There are ten rewards for each letter you recite from the Quran.Abdullaah bin Mas'ood (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Whoever recites one letter from the Book of Allaah then he will receive a good reward, and every good deed is rewarded with ten times its like. I do not say that Alif Laam Meem is one word but Alif is one word, Laam is one word and Meem is one word." [This means it is equal to three letters and a person receives thirty rewards for reciting it. Reported by Tirmidhee]So try to recite as much verses of the Qur'an as you can.
7 Those who recite the Quran will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels.Aa`isha (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said::Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses (because he doesn't know how to read it but is trying to), then he will have TWICE that reward. [ Reported by Bukhari and Muslim]So dedicate yourself to the Book of Allah, whether you are an Arab or not! The excuses have been eliminated and the pathway has been cleared for you to embrace the Book of Allah without holding back or offering excuses!
8 - Your position in Paradise is determined by the amount of Quran you memorize in your life!Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-Aas heard Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) saying:It will be said to the companion of the Quran: Read and elevate (through the levels of the Paradise) and beautify your voice as you used to do when you were in life! For verily, your position in the Paradise will be at the last verse you recite!
9 - The Quran will lead you to Paradise!Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:The Quran is an intercessor, something given permission to intercede, and it is rightfully believed in. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise; whoever puts it behind him, it will steer him to the Hellfire.Thus, know that these nine benefits can only be attained by a sincere commitment to the Holy Qur'an, not by a persons mere statement, I love the Quran, its beautiful. Rather the heart must be sincerely attached to Allahs Book and the limbs and tongue will follow in this attachment.

3 - The Quran will intercede for us on the Day of Judgment.Abu Umaamah (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:
"Recite the Qur'an as it will come on the Day of Judgement as an intercessor for those who used to memorise and recite it." [ Reported by Muslim]
Nawwaas bin Sam'aan (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "The Qur'an and its people, those who used to act upon it in the world, will be brought on the Day of Judgement. However, Sooratul-Baqarah and Sooratul-Imraan will precede them and argue in favour of those who memorised and recited these soorah's (in this life)." [Reported by Muslim]
4 - Your status in this life will be raised.In Saheeh Muslim, there is this beautiful story, that shows how a man from the people of Jannah (Paradise), Umar ibn Al-Khattab, understood this principle.
Some men came to question him during his khilaafah (reign)about the leadership of Mekkah, they asked, Who do you use to govern Mekkah?
He said, Ibn Abzaa.
They asked, And who is Ibn Abzaa?
Umar replied, A freed slave from those we freed.
They remarked, You left a freed slave in charge of the people of the Valley (the noble tribes of the Quraysh)!?!? So he answered them, Verily he is a reader of the Book of Allah and is Knowledgeable about the obligations of the Muslims. Havent you heard the statement of your Messenger?Verily Allah raises some people by this Book and lowers others by it. [ Reported by Muslim]
5 - You will be from the best of the people.Uthman Ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:The best of you are the ones who learn the Quran and teach it to others [Reported by Bukhari]
6 - There are ten rewards for each letter you recite from the Quran.Abdullaah bin Mas'ood (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Whoever recites one letter from the Book of Allaah then he will receive a good reward, and every good deed is rewarded with ten times its like. I do not say that Alif Laam Meem is one word but Alif is one word, Laam is one word and Meem is one word." [This means it is equal to three letters and a person receives thirty rewards for reciting it. Reported by Tirmidhee]So try to recite as much verses of the Qur'an as you can.
7 Those who recite the Quran will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels.Aa`isha (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said::Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses (because he doesn't know how to read it but is trying to), then he will have TWICE that reward. [ Reported by Bukhari and Muslim]So dedicate yourself to the Book of Allah, whether you are an Arab or not! The excuses have been eliminated and the pathway has been cleared for you to embrace the Book of Allah without holding back or offering excuses!
8 - Your position in Paradise is determined by the amount of Quran you memorize in your life!Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-Aas heard Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) saying:It will be said to the companion of the Quran: Read and elevate (through the levels of the Paradise) and beautify your voice as you used to do when you were in life! For verily, your position in the Paradise will be at the last verse you recite!
9 - The Quran will lead you to Paradise!Prophet Mohammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:The Quran is an intercessor, something given permission to intercede, and it is rightfully believed in. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise; whoever puts it behind him, it will steer him to the Hellfire.Thus, know that these nine benefits can only be attained by a sincere commitment to the Holy Qur'an, not by a persons mere statement, I love the Quran, its beautiful. Rather the heart must be sincerely attached to Allahs Book and the limbs and tongue will follow in this attachment.
