Abu Said al-Khudri RadiAllahu Anhu (may aAllah be pleased with him) said that the Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasalam (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the mosque for prayers where he saw people laughing in an excessively carefree manner. The Greatest Teacher, the Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasalam said, "If you were to remember death, the cutter-off of all pleasures, it would distract you from such frivolous laughter. So, keep death in remembrance." (Jami-Tirmizi, Ma'ariful Hadis)
Anas RaDiAllahu Anhu related that the Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasalam was with a young man as he was dying. The Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasalam asked, "How do you find yourself at this very moment?" "O Rasulullah (Messenger of Allah)! I am in such a state of mind that I am hopeful of Allah's Mercy, but at the same time I am so apprehensive and fearful of punishment and torture for my sins." The Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasalam said, "Be sure, when one has both feelings, hope and fear, within his heart at the moment of death, then Allah will certainly bestow upon him what he is expecting from His Infinite Bounty and will keep him safe and secure from the punishment that he dreads so much." (Jame Tirmizi, Ma'ariful Hadis)
