Qur'aan Foretold Electric Fluorescent Bulbs

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Study the Qur'aan, in Qur'aanic light, to understand Islam in its pristine simplicity, clarity, beauty and purity

Qur'aan Foretold Electric Fluorescent Bulbs

1. In verse 41.53, the Qur'aan tells us that "WE shall show them Our Signs in the Universe, and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (Qur'aan) is the Truth. ..."

2. And, surely, the Almighty and All-knowing Allah has been showing the Signs! It has already been documented that several scientific and other discoveries had been foretold or indicated in the Qur'aan. And the greatest Sign of them all is the fact that no scientifically established Truth (and not theory, mind you) has ever contradicted any divine assertion, about embryology, astronomy etc., that has been made in the Qur'aan.

3. And in this context, let me paraphrase to you verse Q: 24.35: "Allah is Light of the heavens and the earth. Similitude of His Light is as if there were a niche. Inside the niche, a lamp. The lamp, inside a glass. The glass, as it were, a bright star, fuelled by a blessed tree of olive, neither of east nor of west, oil of which would glow forth even when no fire touched it! Light over light! Allah guides to His Light whom He wills. And Allah makes use of similitudes for mankind. And Allah is aware of everything!"

4. "And there is none comparable unto Him." [Q: 112.4] So Allah makes use of similitudes or parables to convey to mankind some ideas about His absolutely unique Being. Similitudes, in terms of things mankind knows of. At the time the verse was revealed, over 1400 years ago, people had niches in the walls of their houses. They placed lamps there. The white-washed wall in the background acted as reflector to give comparatively better light to a room on a dark night. They used olive oil as a fuel for the lamp.

5. But no lamp then could be kindled without an external source of fire. And there was no source of energy, available to mankind then, that could be made to glow forth by itself. Allah therefore said that the source of His Light was unlike anything known to human beings then ("neither of east nor of west"). But in similitudes, references are made to things that are known to people. Why then did Allah make references to things unknown, in the similitude He gave?

6. The All-knowing Allah fashioned His last Book of Guidance in such a way that it would be valid for all future generations till the Last Day. HE knew beforehand then, of the generations that would be given the knowledge of a source of energy - a fuel - that would glow by itself, 'even when no fire touched it'! No marks for guesssing that electricity is such a source of energy.

7. It is the electric current that makes the electric bulb glow, without fire (as people, at the time the Qur'aan was revealed, knew of it) 'touching' it. The reflector has replaced the old-time niche for the modern-day 'focus' light. And the fluorescent material of the glass cover, for the electric lamp, glows in addtion, producing the effect so aptly described as noorun alaa noor (light over light) in the divinely given similitude.

8. It is thus abundantly apparent that the similitude given in verse 24.35 was meant for people raised on this earth after the discovery of electricity, rather than for people living at the time of revelation of the Qur'aan. By giving the similitude much before its time, the Almighty and All-knowing Allah has foretold the use of electricity, by future generations, for generation of brighter light.

Study links soft drinks to high rate of diabetes

By Julie Sevrens Lyons

Mercury News

Drinking just one soda a day nearly doubles a woman's risk of developing diabetes, a new study has found, providing the strongest evidence to date that a penchant for sugary Big Gulps may spell big trouble for a person's health.

In a landmark study of more than 50,000 women, researchers determined soft drinks not only set the women up for weight gain, but also dramatically increased the likelihood of women developing type 2 diabetes, also known as adult-onset diabetes. Fruit punch was also linked to higher rates of diabetes among the women, while fruit juice and diet soda were largely vindicated in the study, which appears in today's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

``Once in a while, it might be OK to drink soda, but I don't think it has a place in a daily healthy diet,'' said Dr. Caroline M. Apovian, director of the Nutrition and Weight Management Center at Boston Medical Center, who wrote an editorial accompanying the new study.

The scientists found that women who drank one or more sugar-sweetened beverages a day had an 83 percent increased risk for type 2 diabetes, compared with women who consumed less than one soda per month.

The researchers believe the culprit is not just the calories in the containers, but the excessive amount of high-fructose corn syrup, which can lead not only to weight gain but adult-onset diabetes.

Adverse effects

Diabetes, which can cause blindness, limb amputations and even death, has long been linked to obesity, physical inactivity and advanced age. But today's research makes the strongest point yet that Coke, Pepsi and other sugary sodas may also play a role.

``We were surprised that the association with type 2 diabetes was this strong,'' said Dr. JoAnn Manson, one of the researchers. ``We expected there might be a slight increase in risk, but there was nearly a doubling.''

Diet soda did not significantly increase the women's risk for diabetes.

The soda industry disagreed with the findings, calling into question the study's methodology and arguing that one type of beverage can't be singled out when so many factors are known to trigger type 2 diabetes.

``Their conclusions are scientifically unsound,'' said Richard Adamson, vice president of scientific and technical affairs for the American Beverage Association.

``These women also smoked more, they consumed less protein . . . and they exercised less,'' Adamson said. ``They were at high risk because they had an unhealthy lifestyle.''

The researchers behind the new study agreed that the women who drank more soda also tended to consume more calories overall, exercise less and consume more carbohydrates, sucrose and fructose, which do put them at a greater risk for type 2 diabetes.

But these factors were all taken into consideration, Manson said. And even then, there was no denying that sugar-sweetened beverages also have an important role in the onset of obesity and diabetes, Manson said.

The study looked at health data taken from 51,603 women over nearly a decade. The women are all nurses, and were in their 20s, 30s and 40s when information was first collected from them in 1989.

The scientists are calling for the government to do everything it can to discourage Americans from drinking so many sodas, but they concede it certainly won't be easy.

Americans now get 7 percent of their total daily calories from soft drinks, a University of California-Berkeley scientist reported in June. The drinks represent one of the biggest sources of added sugars in the U.S. diet.

`Addicted to soda'

But all the research in the world surely won't be enough to prompt some soft drink lovers to give up their daily doses of caffeine and sugar.

``I'm addicted to soda,'' said 17-year-old Nikita Brand, as she put a lid atop her 22-ounce Coca-Cola Slurpee on Tuesday at a San Jose 7-Eleven store.

Nikita averages three sodas a day, she said, usually opting for Coke. When told that the new study suggests it may pose health risks for women, she quickly brushed the news off. ``I don't really pay attention when I hear stuff like that,'' she said.

Public health officials say more Americans should.

Regular carbonated beverages contain roughly 150 calories per 12-ounce serving, and soda drinkers can quickly develop problems with their weight if they don't get enough exercise.

The scientists behind the new study found that if women increased their soda consumption, their weight went up. If they cut back on the sugary drinks, their weight steadily went down.

``Drink one bottle of soda a day for a week and you have to bicycle for 4 hours and 20 minutes just to burn off the calories,'' said Harold Goldstein, executive director of the California Center for Public Health Advocacy in Davis. The organization was a leading advocate of a law that took effect this summer barring sodas from being sold on elementary and middle school campuses.

Correlation observed

Goldstein said he is worried the message hasn't been getting out that soda may, in the long run, have deleterious health effects. Obesity and diabetes rates have been rising just as sharply as soft drink consumption rates, he said. And yet many Americans don't recognize this.

``People drink soda like it's water,'' he said, ``but it's not.''

UNDERSTANDING CHECHNIA
WAS the AUSCHWITZ STORY DEVELOPED TO COVER
Stalin's EXPULSION OF THE entire POPULATION OF CHECHNIA during World War II?

by Buut Shikan [Idol Breaker]

Most Americans do not know that the alleged holocaust of the Jews did not take place in
Germany but at a concentration camp in POLAND called Auschwitz. Although the camp was
monitored by British/American air surveillance during the war, nothing unusual was noticed.
Early in 1945, the Russian army ‘liberated’ the camp and did not announce anything strange.
However, when the war was just about over, suddenly the Russians announced that Auschwitz
had gas chambers and five million Jews had been gassed to death there! [Later this figure was
reduced to one million, when the Russians realized that it would not stand mathematical
scrutiny.] Tens of thousands of Jewish “survivors” of Auschwitz live around the world. None of
them can explain how they survived when “ALL” others were gassed.

What were the Russians trying to hide? It was Chechnia which today is fighting back against
the Russian giant.
The source we’ll use is a “moderate” Chechen named Khassan Baiev who is opposed to the
mujahideen now fighting in Chechnia [whom he calls “wahhabies”] and who has taken refuge in
the USA. [Remember that the Soviet Union was formulated by many Jews, and its terror and
surveillance units were led by Jews. The crimes committed at the orders of Stalin were often
carried out by Jews. Thus if the focus were on Chechnia, people would know that Stalin and the
Russian Communists committed crimes which were much greater in enormity than the behavior of Germany
under Hitler.]

In his book THE OATH: A SURGEON UNDER FIRE [published by Simon & Schuster,
2003, 354 pages], Khassan Baiev provides glimpses of Stalin’s genocide against the Chechens.
More than a million Chechens were killed or died of suffering during the deportation of the entire
population in 1944 from Chechnia to Kazakhstan’s bleak and bitterly cold wasteland.

Baiev’s father reports from his father:
“From Vedeno, they packed people into lorries’ Dada paused, then spoke loudly to be heard
above the roar of the river. ‘They took us to the nearest railway station. Like animals, they
herded us into cattle trucks. We were stacked like cigarettes in a pack, men and women standing
on the straw together. We held up the babies and children so they wouldn’t get crushed.”
“After several days, the stench of excrement and vomit clogged our lungs. We could barely
breathe. Then, one by one, people started dying. You’d turn to say something and the person
next to you was dead. The men would carry the corpses over to the corner of the truck and lay
them like cordwood. The corpses rotted until the train made a stop and they could be thrown out.
The moans of the dying and the cries of women grieving for their children rose above the
thumping of the wheels.’ Dada sighed. ‘By the time we reached Kazakhstan, after a month on
the road, the wagons were half empty. Half a million died en route.’” [p. 32]

The deportation began on February 23, 1944. In a supreme act of hypocrisy, the Soviet
Union’s President Mikhail Kalinin [Jewish?], second only to Stalin, issued an “order” on March
7, 1944 ordering the deportation and accusing the entire Chechen-Ingush nation of treachery and
collaboration with Germany. [Baiev’s father and many other Chechens had fought the Germans
and were highly decorated for defending Leningrad.] Baiev published the text of this infamous
deportation order (p.37). It won’t be surprising if Bush’s Wolfowitz and others who formulated
the Patriot Act after 9.11 have read the order.

A relevant question: Why does the U.S. media ignore the Chechen deportation while it keeps
thumping the drums for Auschwitz when both tragedies are from the same war? In fact
whatever reports exist about the deportation of the Jews from Germany indicate that they were
treated much better than the Chechens by the Russians. The Jews had declared war on Germany.
The Chechens fought to defend Russia against the German invasion and yet were deported.

100,000 Radiations - A Review

http://rense.com/general56/radia.htm
By Barry Chamish

8-18-4

On August 14, at 9 PM, Israeli television station, Channel Ten,
broke all convention and exposed the ugliest secret of Israel's Labor Zionist founders; the deliberate mass radiation poisoning of nearly all
Sephardi youths.

The expose began with the presentation of a documentary film
called, 100,000 Radiations, and concluded with a panel discussion moderated by TV host Dan Margalit, surprising because he is infamous for toeing the establishment line.

Film Details:
100,000 Radiations, released by Dimona Productions Ltd. in 2003.
Producer - Dudi Bergman
Directors - Asher Khamias, David Balrosen

Panel Discussion Participants

A Moroccan singer was joined by David Edri, head of the
Compensation Committee for Ringworm X-Ray Victims, and Boaz Lev, a spokesman for the Ministry Of Health.

Subject:

In 1951, the director general of the Israeli Health Ministry, Dr.
Chaim Sheba flew to America and returned with 7 x-ray machines, supplied to him by the American army.

They were to be used in a mass atomic experiment with an entire
generation of Sephardi youths to be used as guinea pigs. Every Sephardi child was to be given 35,000 times the maximum dose of x-rays through his head. For doing so, the American government paid the Israeli government 300 million Israeli liras a year. The entire Health budget was 60 million liras. The money paid by the Americans is equivalent to billions of dollars today. To fool the parents of the victims, the children were taken away on "school trips" and their parents were later told the x-rays were a treatment for the scourge of scalpal ringworm. 6,000 of the children died shortly after their doses were given, the many of the rest developed cancers that killed them over time and are still killing them now. While living, the victims suffered from disorders such as epilepsy, amnesia, Alzheimer's disease, chronic headaches and psychosis.

Yes, that is the subject of the documentary in cold terms. It is
another matter to see the victims on the screen. ie. To watch the Moroccan lady describe what getting 35,000 times the dose of allowable x-rays in her head feels like.

"I screamed make the headache go away. Make the headache go away.
Make the headache go away. But it never went away."
To watch the bearded man walk hunched down the street.
"I'm in my fifties and everyone thinks I'm in my seventies. I have
to stoop when I walk so I won't fall over. They took my youth away with
those x-rays."

To watch the old lady who administered the doses to thousands of
children.
"They brought them in lines. First their heads were shaved and
smeared in burning gel. Then a ball was put between their legs and the
children were ordered not to drop it, so they wouldn't move. The children weren't protected over the rest of their bodies. There were no lead vests
for them.
I was told I was doing good by helping to remove ringworm. If I
knew what dangers the children were facing, I would never have cooperated.
Never!"

Because the whole body was exposed to the rays, the genetic makeup of the children was often altered, affecting the next generation. We watch the woman with the distorted face explain, "All three of my children have the same cancers my family suffered. Are you going to tell me that's a coincidence?"

Everyone notices that Sephardi women in their fifties today, often
have sparse patchy hair, which they try to cover with henna. Most of us
assumed it was just a characteristic of Sephardi women. We watch the woman on the screen wearing a baseball-style hat. She places a picture of a lovely young teenager with flowing black hair opposite the lens. "That was me before my treatment. Now look at me." She removes her hat. Even the red henna can't cover the horrifying scarred bald spots.

The majority of the victims were Moroccan because they were the
most numerous of the Sephardi immigrants. The generation that was
poisoned became the country's perpetual poor and criminal class. It didn't make sense.

The Moroccans who fled to France became prosperous and highly educated. The common explanation was that France got the rich, thus smart ones. The real explanation is that every French Moroccan child didn't have his brain cells fried with gamma rays.

The film made it perfectly plain that this operation was no
accident.
The dangers of x-rays had been known for over forty years. We read the
official guidelines for x-ray treatment in 1952. The maximum dose to be
given a child in Israel was .5 rad. There was no mistake made. The children were deliberately poisoned.

David Deri, makes the point that only Sephardi children received
the x-rays.

"I was in class and the men came to take us on a tour. They asked
our names.
The Ashkenazi children were told to return to their seats. The dark
children were put on the bus."

The film presents a historian who first gives a potted history of
the eugenics movement. In a later sound bite, he declares that the
ringworm operation was a eugenics program aimed at weeding out the perceived weak strains of society. The film now quotes two noted anti-Sephardi racist Jewish leaders, Nahum Goldmann and Levi Eshkol.

Goldmann spent the Holocaust years first in Switzerland, where he
made sure few Jewish refugees were given shelter, then flew to New York to become head of the World Jewish Congress headed by Samuel Bronfman. According to Canadian writer Mordecai Richler, Bronfman had cut a deal with Prime Minister Mackenzie King to prevent the immigration of European Jews to Canada.

But Levi Eshkol's role in the Holocaust was far more minister than
merely not saving lives. He was busy taking them instead. From a biography of Levi Eshkol from the Israeli government web site:
"In 1937 Levi Eshkol played a central role in the establishment of
the Mekorot Water Company and in this role was instrumental in
convincing the German government to allow Jews emigrating to Palestine to take with them some of their assets - mostly in the form of German-made equipment."

While world Jewry was boycotting the Nazi regime in the '30s, the
Jewish Agency in Jerusalem was propping up Hitler. A deal, called The
Transfer Agreement, was cut whereby the Nazis would chase Germany's Jews to Palestine, and the Labor Zionists would force the immigrants to use their assets to buy only German goods. Once the Jewish Agency got the German Jews it wanted, those they secretly indoctrinated in the anti-Judaism of Shabtai Tzvi and Jacob Frank, they let the Nazis take care of the rest of European Jewry. The Holocaust was a eugenics program and Levi Eshkol played a major role in it.

The Moroccan lady is back on the screen. "It was a Holocaust, a
Sephardi Holocaust. And what I want to know is why no one stood up to stop it."

David Deri, on film and then as a panel member, relates the
frustration he encountered when trying to find his childhood medical records. "All I wanted to know was what they did to me. I wanted to know who authorized it. I wanted to trace the chain of command. But the Health Ministry told me my records were missing."

Boaz Lev, the Health Ministry's spokesman chimes in, "Almost all
the records were burned in a fire."
¨
So let us help Mr. Deri trace the chain of command. But now I must
intrude myself in the review. About six years ago, I investigated the
kidnapping of some 4500, mostly Yemenite immigrant infants and children, during the early years of the state. I met the leader of the Yemenite children's movement, Rabbi Uzi Meshulum, imprisoned for trying to get the truth out. He was later returned home in a vegetative state from which he has not emerged.
He told me that the kidnapped children were sent to America to die cruelly in nuclear experiments. The American government had banned human testing and needed guinea pigs. The Israeli government agreed to supply the humans in exchange for money and nuclear secrets. The initiator of Israel's nuclear program was Defence Ministry director-general Shimon Peres.

Rabbi David Sevilia of Jerusalem corroborated the crime and later,
I even saw photos of the radiation scars on the few surviving children,
and the cages the infants were shipped to America in.

Just over five years ago I published my belief on the internet,
that Israel's Labor Zionist founders had conducted atomic experiments onYemenite and other Sephardi children, killing thousands of them. Almost three years ago, I published the same assertion in my last book, Save Israel!. I suffered much scorn for doing so. However, I was right.

We return to the documentary. We are told that a US law in the late
'40s put a stop to the human radiation experiments conducted on prisoners, the mentally feeble and the like. The American atomic program needed a new source of human lab rats and the Israeli government supplied it.

Here was the government cabinet at the time of the ringworm
atrocities:

Prime Minister - David Ben Gurion
Finance Minister - Eliezer Kaplan Settlement Minister - Levi Eshkol
Foreign Minister - Moshe Sharrett
Health Minister - Yosef Burg
Labor Minister - Golda Meir
Police Minister - Amos Ben Gurion

The highest ranking non-cabinet post belonged to the Director
General Of The Defence Ministry, Shimon Peres.

That a program involving the equivalent of billions of dollars of
American government funds should be unknown to the Prime Minister of cash-strapped Israel is ridiculous. Ben Gurion was in on the horrors and undoubtedly chose his son to be Police Minister in case anyone interfered with them.

Now, let's have a quick glance at the other plotters, starting with
the Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan. He handled the profits of the
operation and was rewarded for eternity with a hospital named after him near Rehovot.
But he's not alone in this honor. The racist bigot Chaim Sheba, who ran
Ringworm Incorporated, had a whole medical complex named after him. Needless to say, if there is an ounce of decency in the local medical profession, those hospital names will have to change.
Then there is Yosef Burg, who the leaders of the Yemenite
Children's movement insist was the most responsible for the kidnappings of their infants. As Health Minister, he certainly played a pivotal role in
the Ringworm murders. That would go a great way to explaining the
peculiar behavior of his son, the peacemaker, Avraham Burg.

Let us not forget Moshe Sharrett, who had Rabbi Yoel Brand arrested in Aleppo in 1944 for proposing a practical way to save 800,000 Jews trapped in Hungary. Sharrett's most cited quote is, "If Shimon Peres ever enters this government, I will tear my clothes and start to mourn." Several Yemenite Children activists told me Sharrett was referring to the kidnapping of the Yemenite children when he made this statement.
And other amateur historians have told me that Levi Eshkol openly
and proudly announced his belief in the tenets of Shabtai Tzvi, but try
as I have, I haven't tracked down a citation. However, we do know of
Eshkol, that during the period of the radiations, he served first as Settlement Minister, then took over from Kaplan as Finance Minister. From his bio:

"In 1951 Eshkol was appointed Minister of Agriculture and
Development, and from 1952 to 1963 - a decade characterized by unprecedented economic growth despite the burden of financing immigrant absorption and the 1956 Sinai Campaign - he served as Minister of Finance. Between 1949 and 1963, Eshkol also served as head of the settlement division of the Jewish Agency. In the first four years of statehood, he was also treasurer of the Jewish Agency, largely responsible for obtaining the funds for the country's development, absorption of the massive waves of immigrants and equipment for the army."

In short, Eshkol was the person most responsible for Israel's
immigrants, the ones he sent to radiation torture chambers.
Finally, there is Golda Meir. We don't know her role, but she was
in on the secret and rewarded for it. Note that every prime minister
thereafter until 1977, when the honorable Menachem Begin was elected, came from this cabal.
And note also, that no one from what is called the Right today, was
privy to the slaughter of the Sephardi children.

Apply that lesson to a contemporary fact: It is the descendants of
these butchers who brought us the Oslo "peace" and are determined to wipe out the settlers of Judea, Samaria and Gaza as surely as they had dealt with the inferior dark Jews who came into their clutches fifty years before.

Now try and imagine it is 1952 and you are in a cabinet meeting.
You will be debating whether to send the Yemenite babies to America for their final zapping, or whether to have them zapped here. That is what the Luciferian, satanic Sabbataian founders of our nation were prattling on about when they got together to discuss the affairs of state.

After the film ended, TV host Dan Margalit tried to put a better
face on what he'd witnessed. Any face had to be better than what he had seen. He
explained meekly, "But the state was poor. It was a matter of day to day survival." Then he stopped. He knew there was no excusing the atrocities the Sephardi children endured.

But it was the Moroccan singer who summed up the experience best.
"It's going to hurt, but the truth has to be told. If not, the wounds
will never heal."
There is one person alive who knows the truth and participated in
the atrocities. He is Leader Of The Opposition Shimon Peres, the
peacemaker.
The only way to get to the truth and start the healing is to
investigate him for his role in the kidnapping of 4500 Yemenite infants and the mass poisoning of over 100,000 Sephardi children and youths.
But here is why that won't happen. It is a miracle that 100,000
Radiations was broadcast at all. Clearly though, someone fought for it but had to agree to a compromise. The show was aired at the same time as the highest-rated show of the year, the final of Israel's, A Star Is Born. The next day, there was not a word about 100,000 Radiations in any paper, but the newly-born star's photo took up half the front pages.
That's how the truth is buried in Israel, and somehow, these tricks
work.
The same methods were used to cover up the Rabin assassination.
However, a few hundred thousand people saw the film on their
screens and they will never forget the truth. If the Rabin assassination
doesn't bury
Labor Zionism for good, then 100,000 Radiations eventually will end.
A decent background piece on the subject of the Ringworm Holocaust is found at:
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/458044.html
I cover the subject and explain the motivations for the evil on my
new audio CD and video called The Dirty Secrets Of Oslo.
I'm getting my first reactions and they are strong. Here are two:

"I've listened to your CDs twice so far, and will do so again.
You speak truth. I know that."
"Hi Barry, I have listened to your CD twice now. You need to somehow get this word out.
I don't know how. After listening to this, I have more admiration
and respect for you than ever. You have managed to put things together
in the right perspective. You have broken into something that answers many questions that I have always had. We have to get this word out
somehow. If you can think of anything that I can do to help you, please do let me know."

Al-Hujurat (The Dwellings)
Chapter 49: Verse 13

Universal Brotherhood
"O Mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous of you"

There are several principles, which this verse presents:

This message is not just for Muslims only because Allah is addressing all of humanity. While Muslims are one brotherhood, this is part of a larger brotherhood of humanity.
Allah is telling us that He has created us. Therefore He knows the best about us.
He says that He created us from one man and one woman meaning that all humanity is from the same origin.
It also means that all human beings are created through the same process, not in a manner in which some are created with a better mechanism than others.
Allah is the One who made human beings into different groups and people.
These differences are not wrong, rather a sign from Allah ("And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colors. Verily, in that are indeed signs for those who know" [Quran 30:22]).
Note that no word equivalent to race is used in this ayah or any other verse of the Quran.
Islam, however, limits the purpose of these distinctions to differentiation and knowing each other. This is not meant to be a source of beating each other down with an attitude of ‘my group is better than your group' or false pride as is the case with tribalism, nationalism, colonialism, and racism.
The only source of preference or greatness among human beings is not on a national or group level, but it is at the individual level.

Prayer of a child…

On my lips is coming a wish-like prayer Lord!
May my life burn like a candle-like fire!
With my breath may the darkness depart,
With my light let every corner ignite.
Let my breath add to the beauty of my nation
Like how a flower adds to the beauty of a garden
I wish my life were a moth, O lord!
In love if I was with the flame of knowledge, O Lord!
May my task be to defend the poor
To love those who at heart are weak and sore
O My Allah! Save me from doing what is bad
On the path that is right, on that You lead!

Poet: Dr Muhammad Iqbal

Taraweeh Salaah - Night 5

By Sheikh Abdul Hamid Lachporia - Canada
In the Name of Almighty Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Tonight's Tarawee consists of La Yuhibbullah(Juz 6) in its entirety up a quarter of Wa-itha Sami-oe(Juz 7).
The Surah's covered are: the last quarter of Surah Al- Nisa and Surah Ma'ida completely. The final portion of Surah Al-Nisa deals with the wrongdoings of the Ahle-Kitaab and also makes mention of those people who were honourable exceptions. The outcome of both these two groups of people are discussed and brought to light.

SURAH MA'IDA:
Surah Ma'ida retells us how the Jews and Christians had corrupted themselves and how Islam came to show mankind perfect guidance once more. It refers to the Christians with whom Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala took a covenant,"but they forgot a significant portion of the Divine Message that was sent to them," i.e. they rejected the order that Nabee Esa Alayhis Salam (Jesus P.B.O.H.) gave to them whereby he advised them of the coming of Nabee Muhammad Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam and that they should accept him as the Beloved Messenger sent as a mercy to them from Almighty Allah Exalted.

In contrast to the corruption of Christianity and Judaism, the rules of Islam pertaining to Halal and Haraam foods, cleanliness and justice are recapitulated. The fourth (4th) Verse contains the most beautiful and memorable verse by Almighty Allah Jallah Wa'ala: "This day have I perfected for you Islam as your religion." This was the very last verse to be revealed. This most memorable verse was revealed to our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam in 10 A.H. during our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam's last Haj.

This Surah commences with an appeal to mankind. All obligations whether they are human or Divine, are holy and should therefore be fulfilled. Rules relating to partaking of food are laid down. Dead meat [carrion], blood, and the meat of swine [i.e. pig, pork etc] are all forbidden for health reasons. Any animal slaughtered in the name of a deity other than in the name of Almighty Allah Azza Wajjal is forbidden (Haraam). All things good, pure and wholesome are Halal. Laws are laid down in our dealings and relations with the Ahle Kitaab, to show that a true Muslim should be tolerant towards people of other faiths.

Taraweeh Salaah - Night 4

By Sheikh Abdul Hamid Lachporia - Canada

In the Name of Almighty Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Tonight's Tarawee consists of the last quarter of Lantana(Juz 4) to the end of Wal-Muh'sanat(Juz 5). The Surah covers three quarter of Surah An-Nisaa. This Surah is closely related with the previous Surah and deals with the social problems that the Muslim community had to face immediately following the Battle of Uhud.

The principals laid down in this Surah have always been regarded as Muslim Law and social practice for The Muslim Ummah for all times. This Surah can be divided into two different parts: (1) Dealing with general family life, the rights of women in Islam; treatment towards orphans and the rights of orphans; laws dealing with inheritance and marriage; (2) Dealing with the Muslim community in Madinah as well as dealing with the hypocrites and the Jews. Hence in this Surah, we find the regulations laid down for both our private law as well as our attitude towards our territorial neighbours.

The Surah begins with an appeal to the unity of mankind since Almighty Allah Azza Wajjal created mankind from "a single soul". Women and orphans have certain rights which must always be fulfilled. We are asked to treat women and orphans in a just manner. Husband and Wife must honour each other. Close family relationships that are blessed with offspring are healthy and are a great source of Allah's Pleasure. This leads to the discussion of Laws and Inheritance, indicating that justice must extend to the distribution of wealth to all family members. We must follow Allah's Commandments towards family while they are alive as well as when they have departed from this Doonya.

The Bani Isra'eel are accused of indulging in twisting words and making fun of the Divine Commandments and believing in magic and evil. The hypocrites are also warned. The only salvation left for these misguided people is to accept Nabee Muhammad Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam as the true Messenger of Allah and to accept the Holy Qur'an as the final revealed message with complete confidence. Muslims are told to be well prepared against their enemies as well as against the hypocrites. The lives of Muslims are sacred and a believer should never kill another believer. If one slays a believer in error, full compensation should be made to his family.

Do not judge those who offer Salaam to you; instead investigate the matter thoroughly before passing judgement. Do not live in a place that is hostile towards Islam - if you are able to migrate to a safer place. We are asked to shorten our Salaat in times of danger and on journeys. Do not go astray but follow the Laws of Allah as laid down in the Holy Qur'an. Muslims are told that the best form of charity is charity that is given secretly; restore brotherhood and peace between quarreling Muslims. Shirk is not forgiven.

Paradise and Hell

It doesnt matter if you are muslim, athiest or jewish zionist, you have to read this! dont say you were never warned!

JANNAT (PARADISE)

1. Jannat is a very large and very beautiful place.

2. It has been made by Allah Ta'ala for Muslims.

3. It's walls have been made of bricks of gold and silver and its cement is made of musk.

4. The ground is made of saffron and ambergris (a wax-like substance).

5. Instead of gravel, there will be diamonds and pearls.

6. There are huge mansions made of pearls, diamonds and beautiful jewellery to house the residents of Jannat.

7. There are 100 ranks in Jannat. Each rank is as large in breadth as the sky to the ground. It's doors are so wide that a fast horse would have to run seventy years to get from one side to another.

8. There will be so many gifts in Jannat that you would not dream or think about.

9. There will be various types of fruits, milk, honey, wine (sweet smelling, non-alcoholic) and other delicious types of food for the Jannatis.

10. Jannatis will be given clothes so beautiful that nobody in this world will have ever had fate to wear.

11. For assistance, thousands of "Ghilmaan" or clean, pure servants will be available and for company, beautiful "Hoors" (princesses) whose beauty will be so intense that if one Hoor actually looked towards this world, the people would become unconscious just by looking at her beauty and shining.

12. No one will feel sleepy or fall sick in Jannat.

13. No one will be scared or taste death in Jannat.

14. There would not be any sort of trouble, difficulty, hardships or suffering but all kinds of comfort in Jannat.

15. Every wish, request and desire will be fulfilled in Jannat and the greatest Ne'mat (blessing) in Jannat is to make Didaar (see) of Allah Ta'ala.

JAHANNAM (HELL)

1. This place has been made for the Kaafirs (infidels), Munafiqs (hypocrites) and the sinful and wicked people to live. The Kaafirs will be imprisoned here forever.

2. This is also a place where there is complete darkness and strong black fire, which has no shine to it.

3. It's fire will continue to get hotter. The fire of Hell is so strong that if a pinpoint (equal to a tip of a needle) of it was thrown into this world every single person would die from its heat.

4. If one of the guards of Hell came to this world, people would all die just by seeing his frightening face. No one would survive.

5. The Jahannamis will be given many different types of punishment. Big snakes and scorpions will bite them. People will have their heads crushed by big hammers. People will suffer from extreme hunger and thirst. They will be given a boiling hot oil type of water to drink and poisonous thorny fruits to eat. When they eat this fruit it will get stuck in the throat, and to wash it down they will ask for water and will be given boiling hot water. When drinking this water, all their insides will break and wash away. The thirst will be so extreme that when drinking this water the lips will crumble away.

6. The Kaafirs will become so helpless from this punishment that they will wish for death, but death will not come. They will ask for each other’s advice and go to the guard of Hell, Hazrat Malik. They will ask him to speak to Allah Ta’ala of their fate. Hazrat Malik will not reply to them for a thousand years. After a thousand years, he will reply, "What are you telling me for, tell Him Whom you have disobeyed". Then for a thousand years they will call Allah Ta'ala by His Merciful Names, and for a thousand years He will not reply. After a thousand years, Allah Ta’ala will reply, "Stay away, remain in Hell, do not talk to Me". At this time, the Kaafirs will become completely hopeless of any kind of mercy and will start screaming and crying like the sound of donkeys. First they will cry with tears. Then, when the tears finish, they will cry with tears of blood. There will be big gaping gaps in their cheeks due to the effects of their crying. The amount of water and pus from crying will be so much that if boats were put into them, they would start sailing. The face of Jahannamis will be so bad that if a Jahannami were brought into this world, all the people would die by looking at his face and from the foul stench.

7. Finally, for the Kaafirs, the situation will be such that for every infidel a coffin will be prepared for them to the length of their height, and then they will be put into this coffin. Then, it will be set on fire and it will be locked with a padlock of fire. It will be then be put inside a larger coffin also made of fire and the gap between will be set on fire. A padlock with chains made of fire will also be put around it. It will then be put into another coffin and then also set on fire and again will be locked with a lock of fire. All this will be then put into a bonfire. Then all the infidels will think that they will never be able to withstand any other heat and that this punishment is above all punishment. There will always be punishment for them and it will never end.

8. After all the Jannatis enter Jannat, only the Jahannamis will be left in Jahannam forever. At that time, death would be placed in between Paradise and Hell in the form of a ram. Then a voice will call out to the Jannatis. They would peep with fear thinking that they would be taken out of Jannat. Then, the voice will call out to the Jahannamis. They would be happy while peeping thinking that they would be taken out from Dozakh. Then the voice would ask them if they recognise it (the ram). All will say, "Yes, this is death." Then the ram will be slaughtered. The voice will say, "O Jannatis, you will live forever and will not die". Then it would say, "O Jahannamis, you will live forever and will not die".

To Him We Belong And To Him Shall We Return.

The month of Rajab

Praise be to Allaah, the One, the Subduer, and blessings and peace be upon the Chosen Prophet and upon his good and pure family and companions.

Praise be to Allaah Who says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And your Lord creates whatsoever He wills and chooses” [al-Qasas 28:68]. The attribute of choosing or selecting is indicative of His Lordship and Oneness, and of the perfection of His Wisdom, Knowledge and Power.

One aspect of His choosing and preferring is the fact that He has chosen some days and months and given them preference over others. Among the months, Allaah has chosen four which He has made sacred, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, the number of months with Allaah is twelve months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allaah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein…” [al-Tawbah 9:36]

These months are calculated according to the movements of the moon, not the movements of the sun, as the kuffaar do.

The Sacred Months are mentioned by implication in the Qur’aan, but their names are not given. Their names are mentioned in the Sunnah:

It was reported from Abu Bakrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave his Farewell Sermon and said: “Time has completed its cycle and is as it was on the Day when Allaah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred, three consecutive months – Dhoo’l-Qa’dah, Dhoo’l-Hijjah and Muharram – and the Rajab of Mudar which comes between Jumaada and Sha’baan.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, no. 1741, in [Kitaab] al-Hajj, al-Khutbah Ayaam Mina; and by Muslim, no. 1679, in [Kitaab] al-Qisaamah, Baab Tahreem al-Dimaa’).

It was called Rajab of Mudar because [the tribe of] Mudar did not tamper with its timing, unlike the rest of the Arabs, who used to tamper with the months and change their order depending on whether they were in a state of war or not. This was the postponing referred to in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“The postponing (of a Sacred Month) is indeed an addition to disbelief: thereby the disbelievers are led astray, for they make it lawful one year and forbid it another year in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allaah, and make such forbidden ones lawful.” [al-Tawbah 9:37]

It was also said that the reason why it was attributed to Mudar was because they venerated it and respected it so much, so it was attributed to them.

The reason why it is so called.

Ibn Faaris said in Mu’jam Maqaayees al-Lughah (p. 445):

The letters Ra’, jeem and ba’ form a root which indicates supporting and strengthening something with another thing. … Hence the phrase “Rajabtu’l-shay’” means I venerated it… It was called Rajab because they used to venerate it, and it is also venerated in Sharee’ah.

Rajab & Sha'baan Dua

Rajab is the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar. This month was regarded as one of the sacred months (Al-Ashhur-al-hurum) in which battles were prohibited in the days of the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) . It is also a prelude to the month of Ramadan, because Ramadan follows it after the intervening month of Sha'ban. Therefore, when the Holy Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) sighted the moon of Rajab, he used to pray to Allah in the following words.

"ALLAHUMA BAARIK-LANA FI RAJABA WA-SHA'BAAANA WA-BAL-LIGHNA RAMADHAANA"
"O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha'ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings)."

We too, should take the opportunity of reading this dua, often in the months of Rajab and Sha'baan.

Taraweeh Salaah - Night 3

By Sheikh Abdul Hamid Lachporia - Canada

In the Name of Almighty Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Tonight's Tarawee consists of the second half of Tilka(Juz 3) and three quarters of Lantana(Juz 4). Tonight we cover and complete Surah Al-i-Imran in its entirety [The Family of Imran].

Surah Al-i-Imran is cognate to Surah Al-Baqara, but the matter is here treated from a different point of view. The reference to the Battle of Badr (Ramadan A.H.2) and the Battle of Uhud (Shawwal A.H. 3) gives us a clue to the dates of these passages. Like Surah Al-Baqara, Surah Al-i-Imran takes a general view of the religious history of mankind, with special reference to the People of the Book, proceeds to explain the birth of the new Ummah of Islam and their ordinances, insists on the need of struggle and fighting in the cause of Truth, and exhorts those who have been blessed with Islam to remain constant in Faith, pray for guidance, and maintain their spiritual hope for the future.

The new points of view developed are: (1) The emphasis here is laid down on the duty of the Christians to accept the new light; the Christians are specially appealed to, as the Jews were specially appealed to in Surah Al-Baqara; (2) the lessons of the Battles of Badr and Uhud are set out for the Muslim community; and (3) the responsibilities of that community are insisted on both internally and in their relations to those outside. The People of the Book had only a portion of the Book, and if they reject the complete Book, the People of Imaan must part company with them, and their day is done. The story of the Family of Imran (the father of Nabee Moosa Alayhis Salaam) leads us from the Mosaic Dispensation to the miracles connected with the birth of Nabee Esa Alayhis Salaam and his ministry.

Allah's revelation being continuous, all people are invited to accept its completion in Islam, and controversies are deprecated. The Muslims are asked to hold together in union and harmony, and are promised security from harm from their enemies, and enjoined to seek friendship among their own people. The great Battle of Badr showed how Almighty Allah helps and upholds the virtuous and how patience, perseverance, and discipline find their reward; on the other hand, the lessons of Uhud must be learnt, not in despair, but in the exercise of the higher virtues and in contempt of pain and death. The misfortunes at Uhud are shown to be due to the indiscipline of some, the indecision and selfishness of others, and cowardice on the part of the hypocrites, but no enemy can hurt Allah's Cause. The taunts of the enemy should be disregarded, and sincere prayer offered to Allah Who would grant His servants success and prosperity.

Taraweeh Salaah - Night 2

By Sheikh Abdul Hamid Lachporia - Canada

In the Name of Almighty Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Tonight's Tarawee consists of the last three quarters of Sayakool and the First Half of Tilka. The Surah covered is the final third of Surah Al-Baqara

In the very first Sipara, we are told how Nabee Ebrahim Alayhis Salaam, together with his son Hazrat Isma'il Alayhis Salaam built the Holy Ka'bah, which stood for the centre of Tawhid and the Unity of Islam. Nabee Ebrahim Alayhis Salaam prayed upon completing the construction of the Holy Ka'bah: "O our Lord! Make us among those who submit to Your Will and make our offspring an Ummah that bows down to Your Will." Upon this, the brotherhood of the Muslim Ummah was established and the symbol of that unity was the Holy Ka'bah.

The rules of of Huqooq-ul-la and Huqooq-ul-Ibad were laid down for the Muslim Ummah. Huqooq-ul-la dealt with mankind's relationship with Almighty Allah Azza Wajjal while Huqooqul-Ibad dealth with man's relationship with his fellow man. The Most Glorious and Noble Qur'an emphasizes that righteousness does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that doing things whose importance cannot be comprehended, but in faith, (Imaan), kindness, prayer, Ibadah, Charity, Zakaat, patience, Sabr, caring and sharing, adversity under suffering and good moral conduct and behaviour in general.

Rules and regulations are laid down relating to Halal and Haram foods, Laws of inheritance, fasting, Jihad, Drinking and gambling; treatment of orphans, and women, prohibition from taking interest (Ribah) etc. In short, if one desires to be a good Muh'min, he or she must follow the Divine Commandments of Almighty Allah Exalted. Nothing short of this can make a Muh'min a true and confirmed Muslim.

The subject of Jihad is discussed with reference to Nabee Dawood Alayhis Salaam battle with Jalut (Goliath) and his ultimate victory. Nabee Dawood Alayhis Salaam was blessed with great physical strength. He was a true and mighty defender of Almighty Allah's Din. We are also told about Nabee Isa Alayhis Salaam and how he was strengthened with the "Divine Word of Rabbul Ala'meen". We learn how Nabee Moosa Alayhis Salaam called upon the Bani Isra'eel to cease their evil ways.

References to Nabee Isa and Nabee Moosa Alayhim Salaam regarding the question of Jihad was covered the first night of Tarawee. From the examples of these three great prophets - Alayhim Salaam, we are informed how the three levels of Jihad work: (1) Arming oneself with nothing but the truth (2) fighting and overcoming the evils within ourselves and replacing it with true Imaan (3) Defending the Glorious Din of Al-Islam.
As Muslims, we know that our beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam was Rahmatul Liel Ala'meen and that he possessed all these qualities for His Jihad.

"Blessed is He Who hath revealed unto His slave the FURQAN [the Criterion of Right and Wrong], that He may be a warner to mankind. He unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, He hath chosen no son nor hath He any partner in the Sovereignty. He Who created all things, and ordered them in due proportion". [Surah Al-Furqan: Verses 1 and 2]."We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an,In order that you may learn wisdom." [Surah Yusuf Verse 2].In the spirit of the above verses these notes are being prepared in order to foster an interest in understanding the Most Glorious and Noble Qur'an with the sincere intention of recognizing it as a practical Divine Book with which to influence our lives. How much more inspiring would it have been if only all of us would have understood a minute portion of its Divine Message. It is hoped Insha'Allah that that we can all derive full advantage of this humble effort. It is humbly suggested that this brief synopsis of the Surah/Surahs as recited each night during Ramadan be explained to the Jamaat prior to commencing the Tarawee prayers.May Almighty Allah Jallah Wa'ala in His Infinite Mercy and Bounty accept our humble efforts and may He accept all our Duahs,Supplications, Ibadah and good deeds during this glorious month of Ramadan and throughout the coming years - Insha'Allah Bie Itt'Nillah. Ameen Ya Rabbul Ala'meen.1ST TARAWEEHThe Surahs recited for the first night of Tarawee consists of: Surah Al-Fatiha and two thirds of Surah Al-Baqara.SYNOPSIS OF SURAH FATIHAThe prayers and invocations with which our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam began a prayer-service would appear to be little else than the acknowledgement and affirmation before Almighty Allah Subahanahoo Wata'ala of His Glory, His Unity, His Majesty and His Greatness and of one's own humbleness."O Allah! With Thy glorification and Thy Praise; Blessed is Thy name, and great is Thy Glory, and there is no god save Thee."O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee from the enticement, the whisper and the spit of Shaytaan Lanathulahi Alay." Refuge is then sought from Shaythaan and in order to keep the Salaat and reverence for the Most Holy and Glorious Qura'n safe from his evils it is begun with Bismillah, in accordance with the Quranic dictum: Verse 98 of Surah An-Nahl:"And when thou recitest the Qura'n, seek refuge in Allah from Shayhaan the outcast."

The Value of Time

Do you understand how valuable time is? Muslim scholars appreciated their time a long time before the West ever did. This is how they achieved their revival:

Al-Hasan Al-Basri said, "Every day the sun rises it calls upon us, "Oh people! I am a new day; I am an observer of your actions. Take advantage of me for I will not return until the Day of Judgment." "Oh, son of Adam you are nothing but a few breaths. Once one breath goes out, part of you goes with it. In the same way that part of you has gone, soon all of you will go."

Ibn Al-Quaym said, "Every gulp of air that goes out in a cause other than the cause of Allah (SWT) will turn to sorrow and regret on the Day of Judgment." He also said, "A sign that Allah (SWT) despises you is when you find yourself wasting your time with trivial matters; in this way you miss your chance of going to heaven. And a sign that Allah (SWT) likes you is when you find yourself fulfilling more duties than you have time for." A saying goes, 'The devil makes work for idle thumbs.' If you want to know whether Allah (SWT) is pleased with you, then think: Are you busy or idle?

Al-Muhasiby said, "I wish that time could be acquired with money. If so I would buy time from wasteful and ungrateful people so that I could spend it serving Allah (SWT)."

Ibn Masoud said, "I never regretted anything except a day that passed by without having increased my deeds."

Ibn Akeel wrote 'The Book of Arts', which contains 800 volumes. He used to say, "I don't eat like you do - I mix dry bread with water until it becomes liquid. This way I save time by just swallowing it instead of chewing it."

Abu-Yusuf, who was a student of Abu-Hanifa, once said, "Abu-Hanifa was on his death bed, when he asked for a paper and a pencil to solve a problem in jurisprudence, saying, if I have but one instant to live, I would spend it doing something that pleases Allah (SWT)."

What is Tawhid?

Tawhid means oneness of Allah (SWT). It is the main part of Iman (Faith) and is beautifully expressed in Suratul- Ikhlas in the Quran, the English translation for that Surah means:

“Declare, He is one God, Allah. The Eternal, the Absolute. None is born of Him, nor is he born. And there is nothing comparable to Him.”

The beliefs of Tawhid have a big effect in our lives:

A believer in Tawhid surrenders himself completely to the will of Allah (SWT) , and becomes His true servant and subject.

When a person surrenders himself to Allah (SWT) command, he gains control over all other creations in the universe.

It produces in the believer a high degree of self-respect; he depends on Allah (SWT) for the fulfilment of his needs.

It makes a believer contented. He does not become worried because he knows Allah (SWT) will take care of all his needs if he is obedient.

It produces in the believer a strong determination, patience and perseverance. The believer becomes single-minded and dedicates himself in trying to seek Allah (SWT) pleasure.

A believer in Tawhid feels self-conscious if he does something wrong.

THERE Is No God But ALLAH! And Muhammad Is The Messenger Of Allah

Indeed Allah and his angels send their Blessings on the Prophet, O you who believe, send blessings on him and salute him with respect

The word 'whore' is an anglecized spelling of HUR, the exquisite companions promised to the virtuous Muslims as paradisical partners

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari

Khalid ibn Zayd ibn Kulayb from the Banu Najjar was a great and close companion of the Prophet. He was known as Abu Ayyub (the father of Ayyub) and enjoyed a privilege which many of the Ansar in Madinah hoped they would have.

When the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be on him, reached Madinah after his hijrah from Makkah, he was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Ansar of Madinah. Their hearts went out to him and their eyes followed him with devotion and love. They wanted to give him the most generous reception anyone could be given.

The Prophet first stopped at Quba on the outskirts of Madinah and stayed there for some days. The first thing he did was to build a mosque which is described in the Quran as the "mosque built on the foundation of piety (taqwa)". (Surah At-Tawhah 9: 1O8).

The Prophet entered Madinah on his camel. The chieftains of the city stood along his path, each one wishing to have the honor of the Prophet alighting and staying at his house. One after the other stood in the camel's way entreating, "Stay with us, O Rasulullah." "Leave the camel," the Prophet would say. "It is under command. "

The camel continued walking, closely followed by the eyes and hearts of the people of Yathrib. When it went past a house, its owner would feel sad and dejected and hope would rise in the hearts of others still on the route.

The camel continued in this fashion with the people following it until it hesitated at an open space in front of the house of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. But the Prophet, upon whom be peace, did not get down. After only a short while, the camel set off again, the Prophet leaving its reins loose. Before long, however, it turned round, retraced its steps and stopped on the same spot as before. Abu Ayyub's heart was filled with happiness. He went out to the Prophet and greeted him with great enthusiasm. He took the Prophet's baggage in his arms and felt as if he was carrying the most precious treasure in the world.

Abu Ayyub's house had two stories. He emptied the upper floor of his and his family's possessions so that the Prophet could stay there. But the Prophet, peace be on him, preferred to stay on the lower floor.

Night came and the Prophet retired. Abu Ayyub went up to the upper floor. But when they had closed the door, Abu Ayyub turned to his wife and said:

"Woe to us! What have we done? The messenger of God is below and we are higher than he! Can we walk on top of the messenger of God? Do we come between him and the Revelation (Wahy)? If so, we are doomed."

The couple became very worried not knowing what to do. They only got some peace of mind when they moved to the side of the building which did not fall directly above the Prophet. They were careful also only to walk on the outer parts of the floor and avoid the middle.

In the morning, Abu Ayyub said to the Prophet: "By God, we did not sleep a wink last night, neither myself nor Umm Ayyub." "Why not, Abu Ayyub?" asked the Prophet. Abu Ayyub explained how terrible they felt being above while the Prophet was below them and how they might have interrupted the Revelation. "Don't worry, Abu Ayyub," said the Prophet. "We prefer the lower floor because of the many people coming to visit us." "We submitted to the Prophet's wishes," Abu Ayyub related, "until one cold night a jar of ours broke and the water spilled on the upper floor. Umm Ayyub and I stared at the water We only had one piece of velvet which we used as a blanket. We used it to mop up the water out of fear that it would seep through to the Prophet. In the morning I went to him and said, 'I do not like to be above you,' and told him what had happened. He accepted my wish and we changed floors."

The Prophet stayed in Abu Ayyub's house for almost seven months until his mosque was completed on the open space where his camel had stopped. He moved to the roots which were built around the mosque for himself and his family. He thus became a neighbor of Abu Ayyub. What noble neighbor to have had!

Abu Ayyub continued to love the Prophet with all his heart end the Prophet also loved him dearly. There was no formality between them. The Prophet continued to regard Abu Ayyub's house as his own. The following anecdote tells a great deal about the relationship between them.

Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, once left his house in the burning heat of the midday sun and went to the mosque. Umar saw him and asked, "Abu Bakr, what has brought you out at this hour? Abu Bakr said he had left his house because he was terribly hungry and Umar said that he had left his house for the same reason. The Prophet came up to them and asked, "What has brought the two of you out at this hour?" They told him and he said, "By Him in Whose hands is my soul, only hunger has caused me to come out also. But come with me."

They went to the house of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. His wife opened the door and said, "Welcome to the Prophet and whoever is with him."

"Where is Abu Ayyub?" asked the Prophet. Abu Ayyub, who was working in a nearby palm grove, heard the Prophet's voice and came hurriedly.

"Welcome to the Prophet and whoever is with him," he said and went on "O Prophet of God, this is not the time that you usually come." (Abu Ayyub used to keep some food for the Prophet every day. When the Prophet did not come for it by a certain time, Abu Ayyub would give it to his family.) "You are right," the Prophet agreed.

Abu Ayyub went out and cut a cluster of dates in which there were ripe and halfripe dates. "I did not want you to eat this," said the Prophet. "Could you not have brought only the ripe dates?" "O Rasulullah, please eat from both the ripe dates (rutb) and the half ripe (busr). I shall slaughter an animal for you also. " "If you are going to, then do not kill one that gives milk," cautioned the Prophet. Abu Ayyub killed a young goat, cooked half and grilled the other half. He also asked his wife to bake, because she baked better he said.

When the food was ready, it was placed before the Prophet and his two companions. The Prophet took a piece of meat and placed it in a loaf and said, "Abu Ayyub, take this to Fatima. She has not tasted the like of this for days.

When they had eaten and were satisfied, the Prophet said reflectively: "Bread and meat and busr and rutb!" Tears began to flow from his eyes as he continued:

"This is a bountiful blessing about which you will be asked on the Day of judgment. If such comes your way, put your hands to it and say, Bismillah (In the name of God) and when you have finished say, Al hamdu lillah alladhee huwa ashbana wa anama alayna (Praise be to God Who has given us enough and Who has bestowed his bounty on us). This is best."

These are glimpses of Abu Ayyub's live during peace time. He also had a distinguished military career. Much of his time was spent as a warrior until it was said of him, "He did not stay away from any battle the Muslims fought from the time of the Prophet to the time of Muawiyah unless he was engaged at the same time in another."

The last campaign he took part in was the one prepared by Muawiyah and led by his son Yazid against Constantinople. Abu Ayyub at that time was a very old man, almost eighty years old. But that did not prevent him from joining the army and crossing the seas as a ghazi in the path of God. After only a short time engaged in the battle, Abu Ayyub fell ill and had to withdraw from fighting. Yazid came to him and asked:

"Do you need anything, Abu Ayyub?" "Convey my salaams to the Muslim armies and say to them: "Abu Ayyub urges you to penetrate deeply into the territory of the enemy as far as you can go, that you should carry him with you and that you should bury him under your feet at the walls of Constantinople." Then he breathed his last.

The Muslim army fulfilled the desire of the companion of the Messenger of God. They pushed back the enemy's forces in attack after attack until they reached the walls of Constantinople. There they buried him.

(The Muslims beseiged the city for four years but eventually had to withdraw after suffering heavy losses.)

The Passage Quoted from the Book “WAJOOD-E-BARI TAALLAH AND TOHEED”
written by Dr. Malik Ghulam Murtaza (Late).

How this universe has been created? Is it perpetually or is it started from a starting point? If it comes from nonentity then, is it created by coincidence or created on pre-planned intention? Almost every person thinks these questions.

What is the role of a human in this universe? Which style he should follow in his life? These questions are deeply linked with above-mentioned questions. That’s why; the existence of God was the most interesting topic in the whole history of Human beings.

Some people who deny the existence of God, has the following logics about the creation of the universe:

“There is no starting and ending point of this universe. This universe is forever. The mater has the ability to develop itself. This universe is developing itself.”

According to some other people there is starting point but there is no creator. This universe is automatically created by a coincidence or by an accident and its system is also consist on co-incidents.

Against these two theories, the majority of human accept the existence of God and they believe it that he is the creator, owner, administrator and counselor of this universe.

If someone see a cottage in a jungle. He suddenly believed that there is someone who makes it in this jungle. He never thinks that this cottage made automatically. If you see a beautiful building, a beautiful garden, a well managed factory or any other masterpiece. The first thing that comes in your mind is that --- its Engineer, its Gardner and its Manager, is very competent & properly qualified.

The sun, moon and planets are running on their ways since long time with out any accident or fault. If a miner fault will happen in this system, all planets will collided with each other’s.

Study the condition of the earth; if its volume is less from its current volume then life will impossible on it. If its diameter is ¼ of its current, then its gravity wills 1/6 of its current. The existence of water and air will impossible. If its volume is doubles from its current. The gravity will also double.

If the speed of earth (around the sun) or speed of moon (around the earth) is increased or decrease by one second per century all the calculations of Astronomy will become wrong. If the moon is 50 thousand miles away from the earth then Ebb and Tide of water will happened two times in a day.

The earth is circuling around itself with the speed of round about 1,000 Mile/Hour. Lets suppose, if its speed is 100 Mil/Hour. Then our days and nights will become ten times lengthy from current and in summer season, our vegetations will burnt by the light of sun in long day. In winter, all vegetations and animals become died by low temperature in long nights. The heat of sun is 12,000 Fahrenheit on its own surface. Due the present distance between sun and earth, we get very reasonable heat that is more suitable for our life.

The book of the universe is open in front of us. So many masterpieces of ALLAH (SWT) are spreaded in the whole universe. Study these signs deeply and ask this question from your heart that is it true that the universe is created by a coincident?

These are universal truths that show clearly that there is someone who is running this system, he is only one who created this universe and establish a system in it. He is the real & true owner of every thing. He doesn’t depend on others all his creatures depend on him. He has no parents & kids. There is no one who is equal to him. There is no example of him. He has no fault. He doesn’t need sleep, food. He is alive forever.

He gives and takes life of every living thing. He knows every thing about past, present & future. His knowledge is extremely vast; we have no ability to imagine about his knowledge. He can create every thing, which we can’t imagine. No person is free from his obedience. Every thing of this universe is under his control. He has beautiful names. In the holy Quraan word ALLAH is used for this creator. There is no word in any language, which can provide a comprehensive meaning of God.

"Call upon God, or call upon Rahman: by whatever name ye call upon Him, (it is well): for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names." (17:110 Bani Isra’il)

Sunnah way of Drinking

1. It is somewhat disliked to drink in one gulp, and it is also disliked to blow into one’s drink. [Barkawi, al-Tariqa al-Muhammadiyya, 4.107]

Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said,

"Do not drink in one [gulp] like a camel. Rather, drink in two or three [sips]. Pronounce the name of Allah when you drink, and thank Allah when you are finished." [Tirmidhi]

Abu Qatada al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) related that the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said,

"If you drink, do not blow into your cup." [Bukhari and Muslim]

Both these prohibitions relate to proper manners, and thus indicate that these matters are improper and somewhat disliked (makruh tanzihan), though not sinful.

2. Among the Prophetic sunnas related to drinking are:

a) Beginning in the name of Allah, by saying Bismillah or Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem. Some extended this to every sip;

b) Drinking with one’s right hand, because it is disliked to drink with one’s left hand unless there is a genuine excuse;

c) Drinking between three breaths;

d) Not breathing into one’s drink;

e) Not drinking while standing;

f) Drinking in sips rather than gulps, for the latter is disliked;

g) Not drinking excessively. The sunna is to eat and drink in moderation, such that it does not lead to harm or laziness that prevents one from worship.

h) Praising Allah after drinking, by saying Alhamdulillah (‘All praise is to Allah’), or any of the sunna invocations after drinking, such as Alhamdu liLlahi lLadhi at`amana wa saqana wa ja`alana muslimeen]
Why we attacked Iraq from eeew.net

Q: Daddy, why did we have to attack Iraq?
A: Because they had weapons of mass destruction honey.

Q: But the inspectors didn't find any weapons of mass destruction.
A: That's because the Iraqis were hiding them.

Q: And that's why we invaded Iraq?
A: Yep. Invasions always work better than inspections.

Q: But after we invaded them, we STILL didn't find any weapons of mass destruction, did we?
A: That's because the weapons are so well hidden. Don't worry, we'll find something, probably right before the 2004 election.

Q: Why did Iraq want all those weapons of mass destruction?
A: To use them in a war, silly.

Q: I'm confused. If they had all those weapons that they planned to use in a war, then why didn't they use any of those weapons when we went to war with them?
A: Well, obviously they didn't want anyone to know they had those weapons, so they chose to die by the thousands rather than defend themselves.

Q: That doesn't make sense Daddy. Why would they choose to die if they had all those big weapons to fight us back with?
A: It's a different culture. It's not supposed to make sense.

Q: I don't know about you, but I don't think they had any of those weapons our government said they did.
A: Well, you know, it doesn't matter whether or not they had those weapons. We had another good reason to invade them anyway.

Q: And what was that?
A: Even if Iraq didn't have weapons of mass destruction, Saddam Hussein was a cruel dictator, which is another good reason to invade another country.

Q: Why? What does a cruel dictator do that makes it OK to invade his country?
A: Well, for one thing, he tortured his own people.

Q: Kind of like what they do in China?
A: Don't go comparing China to Iraq. China is a good economic competitor, where millions of people work for slave wages in sweatshops to make U.S. corporations richer.

Q: So if a country lets its people be exploited for American corporate gain, it's a good country, even if that country tortures people?
A: Right.

Q: Why were people in Iraq being tortured?
A: For political crimes, mostly, like criticizing the government. People who criticized the government in Iraq were sent to prison and tortured.

Q: Isn't that exactly what happens in China?
A: I told you, China is different.

Q: What's the difference between China and Iraq?
A: Well, for one thing, Iraq was ruled by the Ba'ath party, while China is Communist.

Q: Didn't you once tell me Communists were bad?
A: No, just Cuban Communists are bad.

Q: How are the Cuban Communists bad?
A: Well, for one thing, people who criticize the government in Cuba are sent to prison and tortured.

Q: Like in Iraq?
A: Exactly.

Q: And like in China, too?
A: I told you, China's a good economic competitor. Cuba, on the other hand, is not.

Q: How come Cuba isn't a good economic competitor?
A: Well, you see, back in the early 1960s, our government passed some laws that made it illegal for Americans to trade or do any business with Cuba until they stopped being Communists and started being capitalists like us.

Q: But if we got rid of those laws, opened up trade with Cuba, and started doing business with them, wouldn't that help the Cubans become capitalists?
A: Don't be a smart-ass.

Q: I didn't think I was being one.
A: Well, anyway, they also don't have freedom of religion in Cuba.

Q: Kind of like China and the Falun Gong movement?
A: I told you, stop saying bad things about China. Anyway, Saddam Hussein came to power through a military coup, so he's not really a legitimate leader anyway.

Q: What's a military coup?
A: That's when a military general takes over the government of a country by force, instead of holding free elections like we do in the United States.

Q: Didn't the ruler of Pakistan come to power by a military coup?
A: You mean General Pervez Musharraf? Uh, yeah, he did, but Pakistan is our friend.

Q: Why is Pakistan our friend if their leader is illegitimate?
A: I never said Pervez Musharraf was illegitimate.

Q: Didn't you just say a military general who comes to power by forcibly overthrowing the legitimate government of a nation is an illegitimate leader?
A: Only Saddam Hussein. Pervez Musharraf is our friend, because he helped us invade Afghanistan.

Q: Why did we invade Afghanistan?
A: Because of what they did to us on September 11th.

Q: What did Afghanistan do to us on September 11th?
A: Well, on September 11th, nineteen men, fifteen of them Saudi Arabians, hijacked four airplanes and flew three of them into buildings, killing over 3,000 Americans.

Q: So how did Afghanistan figure into all that?
A: Afghanistan was where those bad men trained, under the oppressive rule of the Taliban.

Q: Aren't the Taliban those bad radical Islamics who chopped off people's heads and hands?
A: Yes, that's exactly who they were. Not only did they chop off people's heads and hands, but they oppressed women, too.

Q: Didn't the Bush administration give the Taliban 43 million dollars back in May of 2001?
A: Yes, but that money was a reward because they did such a good job fighting drugs.

Q: Fighting drugs?
A: Yes, the Taliban were very helpful in stopping people from growing opium poppies.

Q: How did they do such a good job?
A: Simple. If people were caught growing opium poppies, the Taliban would have their hands and heads cut off.

Q: So, when the Taliban cut off people's heads and hands for growing flowers, that was OK, but not if they cut people's heads and hands off for other reasons?
A: Yes. It's OK with us if radical Islamic fundamentalists cut off people's hands for growing flowers, but it's cruel if they cut off people's hands for stealing bread.

Q: Don't they also cut off people's hands and heads in Saudi Arabia?
A: That's different. Afghanistan was ruled by a tyrannical patriarchy that oppressed women and forced them to wear burqas whenever they were in public, with death by stoning as the penalty for women who did not comply.

Q: Don't Saudi women have to wear burqas in public, too?
A: No, Saudi women merely wear a traditional Islamic body covering.

Q: What's the difference?
A: The traditional Islamic covering worn by Saudi women is a modest yet fashionable garment that covers all of a woman's body except for her eyes and fingers. The burqa, on the other hand, is an evil tool of patriarchal oppression that covers all of a woman's body except for her eyes and fingers.

Q: It sounds like the same thing with a different name.
A: Now, don't go comparing Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. The Saudis are our friends.

Q: But I thought you said 15 of the 19 hijackers on September 11th were from Saudi Arabia.
A: Yes, but they trained in Afghanistan.

Q: Who trained them?
A: A very bad man named Osama bin Laden.

Q: Was he from Afghanistan?
A: Uh, no, he was from Saudi Arabia too. But he was a bad man, a very bad man.

Q: I seem to recall he was our friend once.
A: Only when we helped him and the mujahadeen repel the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan back in the 1980s.

Q: Who are the Soviets? Was that the Evil Communist Empire Ronald Reagan talked about?
A: There are no more Soviets. The Soviet Union broke up in 1990 or thereabouts, and now they have elections and capitalism like us. We call them Russians now.

Q: So the Soviets, I mean, the Russians, are now our friends?
A: Well, not really. You see, they were our friends for many years after they stopped being Soviets, but then they decided not to support our invasion of Iraq, so we're mad at them now. We're also mad at the French and the Germans because they didn't help us invade Iraq either.

Q: So the French and Germans are evil, too?
A: Not exactly evil, but just bad enough that we had to rename French fries and French toast to Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast.

Q: Do we always rename foods whenever another country doesn't do what we want them to do?
A: No, we just do that to our friends. Our enemies, we invade.

Q: But wasn't Iraq one of our friends back in the 1980s?
A: Well, yeah. For a while.

Q: Was Saddam Hussein ruler of Iraq back then?
A: Yes, but at the time he was fighting against Iran, which made him our friend, temporarily.

Q: Why did that make him our friend?
A: Because at that time, Iran was our enemy.

Q: Isn't that when he gassed the Kurds?
A: Yeah, but since he was fighting against Iran at the time, we looked the other way, to show him we were his friend.

Q: So anyone who fights against one of our enemies automatically becomes our friend?
A: Most of the time, yes.

Q: And anyone who fights against one of our friends is automatically an enemy?
A: Sometimes that's true, too. However, if American corporations can profit by selling weapons to both sides at the same time, all the better.

Q: Why?
A: Because war is good for the economy, which means war is good for America. Also, since God is on America's side, anyone who opposes war is a godless un-American Communist. Do you understand now why we attacked Iraq?

Q: I think so. We attacked them because God wanted us to, right?
A: Yes.

Q: But how did we know God wanted us to attack Iraq?
A: Well, you see, God personally speaks to George W. Bush and tells him what to do.

Q: So basically, what you're saying is that we attacked Iraq because George W. Bush hears voices in his head?
A: Yes! You finally understand how the world works. Now close your eyes, make yourself comfortable, and go to sleep. Good night.

Q: Good night, Daddy.

“Waste no time debating what a good Muslim should be. Be one!”

When Friends Hurt Each Other
By Muhammad Alshareef, LL.B Shari’ah

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Imam Malik one day entered the Masjid after Asr. Towards the front of Masjid An-Nabawee he drew closer and sat down. Rasul Allah had commanded that anyone who enters the Masjid should not sit until he first prays 2 rakas as a salutation of the Masjid. Imam Malik was of the opinion however that Rasul Allah's forbiddance of praying after Asr took precedence and so he would teach his students to not pray the tahiyyatul Masjid if they entered between the Asr and Maghrib time.
At that moment that Imam Malik sat down, a young boy had seen him sit without first praying the 2 raka’s of Tahiyyatul Masjid. The young boy scorned him, “Get up and pray 2 rakas!”
Imam Malik dutifully stood up once again and began praying the 2 rakas. The students sat stunned: What was going on? Had Imam Malik’s opinion changed?
After he had completed the salah, the students swarmed around and questioned his actions. Imam Malik said, “My opinion has not changed, nor have I gone back on what I taught you earlier. I merely feared that had I not prayed the 2 rakas as the young boy commanded, Allah may include me in the Ayah…
"And when it is said to them, ‘Bow (in prayer)’, they do not bow." - al mursalat 77/48.
Imam Ahmad held the opinion that eating camel meat nullifies ones Wudu, an opinion that the majority of scholars differed from. Some students asked him, “If you find an Imam eating camel meat in front of you and – without first making Wudu - then leads the Salah, would you pray behind him?” Imam Ahmad replied, “Do you think I would not pray behind the likes of Imam Malik and Sa’eed ibn Al-Musayyab?”
Allah created humans with differences. It is the law of creation. Different tongues, different colors, different cultures… all that on the outside. On the inside, humans were created with many degrees ofknowledge, intellect, and comprehension of concepts. This is all a sign of Allah’s all encompassing power to do whatever He wills:
"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are signs for those who know." [30:22]
Humans shall differ, that is not the issue. The issue is: How as a Muslim should one confront these differences of opinions and what should be our relationship with someone of a different opinion.
Allah ta’ala commanded us to call and advise people in this Deen of Al-Islam. Many Muslims set off on this mission blindfolded, not realizing that the map was there in the Qur’an also. In fact, in the very same verse where Allah commanded us to call and advise people in this Deen, Allah taught us how to do it. Read the following verse carefully:
"Invite (fi’l Amr – Allah is commanding) to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction and argue with them in a way that is best! " - Surah An-Nahl 16/125.

Recognize the bounties of Allah - story of three men

Assalamu alaikum. Too often we hear ourselves and others complaining about this, that or the other. Sometimes it is the weather, car problems or other petty grievances. Just try to imagine how many blessings of Allah we are all enjoying without ever giving thanks for them. Who would like to be lose his eyes, ears, arms, legs for £1 Million pounds? Me thinks, not many people. How many other blessings of Allah do we enjoy on a day to day basis then how can we be ungrateful to the One who provided us will all amenities? To top all blessings certainly is the blessing of Imaan in Laaa ilaha Illallah, who in their right mind would care to barter their Imaan for Kufr?

Let us show our appreciation and gratefulness by beginning to mould our life to please the One, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'Ala who deserves to be pleased and let us adopt the noble and magnanimous ways of our Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam. Trust me, you wont me disappointed. Was-Salaam

Recognize the bounties of Allah - story of three men
Once Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam related that there were three men from the Banu Isra'eel. One of them was a leper, the other bald, and the third blind. Allah Ta'ala wanted to test them, so He sent an angel to them. The angel first went to the leper and asked him: "What would you like best?" He replied: "I would like a nice complexion, a beautiful skin, and that this sickness goes away from me whereby people do not allow me to sit with them and which they hate." The angel passed his hand over the body of that person. He was immediately cured and a nice skin and beautiful complexion appeared. The angel then asked him: "What type of wealth do you like the most?" He replied: "Camels." So he gave him a pregnant camel and told him: "May Allah Ta'ala give you barakah in this."The angel then went to the bald person and asked him: "What would you like best?" He replied: "That my hair grows nicely and that this sickness which people dislike goes away from me!" The angel passed his hand over his head, he was immediately cured and beautiful hair began to grow. He then asked him: "What type of wealth do you like the most?" He replied: "Cows." So he gave him a pregnant cow and told him: "May Allah Ta'ala give you barakah in this."Eventually, the angel went to the blind person and asked him: "What would you like most?" He replied: "That Allah gives me back my sight so that I may be able to see everyone." The angel passed his hand over his eyes and Allah gave him back his sight. He then asked him: "What type of wealth do you like the most?" He replied: "Goats." So he was given a pregnant goat. The animals of all three delivered their babies. In a short time, the jungle was filled with his camels, his cows, and his goats.Thereafter, under the orders of Allah Ta'ala, that angel went in his previous form to the leper and said to him: "I am a poor person. All my provisions for my journey are finished. Today I have no means of reaching home except through Allah and then through your help. In the name of that Allah who has blessed you with a nice skin and a beautiful complexion, I ask you for a camel which I could ride and reach my home." He replied: "Get far away from here! I have a lot of other commitments to fulfil. I do not have anything to spare which I could give you." The angel said: "I think I recognize you. Were you not a leper, for which people despised you? Were you not very poor, and then Allah blessed you with so much of wealth?" He replied: "What are you talking? I inherited this wealth from my ancestors." The angel said: "If you are lying, may Allah return you as you were before."The angel then went to the bald person in his previous form and asked him the same questions and he also replied in the same way. So the angel said to him: "If you are lying, may Allah return you as you were before."Eventually he went to the blind person in that same original form and said to him: "I am a traveller and all my provisions are finished. Today I have no means except Allah and then you. In the name of that Being who returned to you your eye-sight, I ask you for a goat with which I could do my work and complete my journey." He replied: "Without doubt, I was blind. It was only out of His mercy that Allah Ta'ala gave me back my eye-sight. Take as much as you want and leave behind as much as you want. By Allah, I will not stop you from taking anything." The angel replied: "Keep your wealth with you, I do not want anything. I had only come to test you three. Now the test is over. Allah is pleased with you and displeased with the other two."Lesson: Just imagine, that because of the ungratefulness of those two, all those bounties were taken away and they were left as they were before. Allah became displeased with them and they are forsaken both in this world and in the hereafter. Due to his gratefulness, that person's bounties remained intact, Allah was pleased with him, and he is contented both in this world and in the hereafter.

In Search of Sincerity
By Muhammad Al-Shareef

In one of the battles that the Muslims waged against the Romans, the Muslims – under the commandment of Maslamah (rahimahullaah) – surrounded a city that had a tall and well-fortified wall. The siege went on for months.

Then one night, one of the Muslim soldiers came to General Maslamah and told him of a hole that he had accomplished to bore through the wall. “It is only large enough for a slim soldier.” He knelt closer. “Quickly, send with me someone who can squeeze through and fight the army on the inside until he has opened the gates for all of us to enter.”

Maslamah sent out the news, and that night someone volunteered. In a sweeping assault, the gate was opened and the Muslims were victorious.

Maslamah, overwhelmed with happiness, sent out the word that the soldier that entered the hole should come forward. No one showed. A day passed and the request was repeated. Another day, then another. No one arrived to take credit.

On the fourth day, a soldier approached Maslamah, his face wrapped in a scarf. He said to him, “I have news of the soldier that entered the hole.”

Maslamah sat up sharp, “Tell me who it is?”

“First, however,” said the soldier, “he has three conditions before exposing himself. Do you agree to this?”

“Of course,” Maslamah said.

“The first is that you do not try to compensate him for what he did. The second is that you do not tell anyone who he is. And the third is that you shall not ask for his presence ever again. Do you agree to these conditions?”

“It is agreed,” Maslamah said.

The soldier, uncovering his scarf, said, “It is I. I went through that hole only for the sake of Allah.” Then, turning, he walked away.

After that day, Maslamah was often heard praying to Allah, “O Allah, (on the Day of Resurrection) grant me companionship with the soldier of the hole.”

Sometimes at any Islamic school, there are children who pray at the back, but the actions are better described as 'playing' (no, not with a lisp). Then when the head master or whoever they consider to have authority above them approaches, they all stand erect in complete devotion.

They are children and Allah will not take them to account. However, there are many adults that do this exact thing but on a more serious scale. The ingredient that we all need to work on throughout our lives as Muslims is Ikhlaas (sincerity) and, In sha Allah, that shall be our topic for today.

Sincerity in all we do is a commandment of Allah:

[Say, "Indeed my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first (among you) of the Muslims."] Surah Al-An'aam 6/162,163

[And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give Zakah. That is the correct Deen.] Surah Bayyinah 98/5

In defining Ikhlaas, Al-Jurjaani – rahimahullaah - said that it is to not seek any audience for your deeds other than Allah.

When one looks over the text of the Qur’aan and Sunnah, they will come to the realization that Allah ta’ala and His Messenger – sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam – speak about sincerity in different aspects: Sincerity in Tawheed of Allah and sincerity in our intentions. Sincerity in our worship, such as in Salah, Sujood, Fasting, standing in Ramadan, standing in the night of Qadr, sincere love for the Masjid, Zakah, Sadaqah, Hajj, Jihaad, repentance, supplications, recitation of the Qur’aan, and so much more.

The Qur'aan and Sunnah speak about sincerity in all our verbal statements, sincerity in our refined and upright AKhlaaq (character), sincerity in our Tawakkul (placing of our trust) in Allah, and sincerity in all actions.

Commenting on the verse: [He who created death and life to test you (as to) which of you is best in deed] Surah Al-Mulk 67/2, Al-Fudayl ibn ‘Iyaadh – rahimahullaah - said, “It is those deeds which are most correct and most sincere.” The students asked, “O Abu Ali, what are deeds that are correct and sincere?” He said, “If a deed is done sincerely, yet is not done correctly, it will not be accepted. And if a deed is done correctly, but not sincerely for Allah, it will not be accepted. It must be done sincerely and correctly. Sincerely, as in for Allah alone; Correctly, as in accordance to the Sunnah.

He then recited the verse of Allah: [So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord – let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.] Surah al-Kahf 18/110. (See Madaarij As-Saalikeen 3/93)

With Ikhlaas we can be saved from misguidance as Prophet Yusuf – alyhi as salam – was saved. Hear Allah’s words: [And thus (it was) that We should avert from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was of Our Mukhlaseen servants.] 12/24

With Ikhlaas the books can be turned in our favor in the last minutes of our lives just as what happened to the man that murdered 99 men. Allah ta'ala saved him in the end because of his sincerity in repentance.

With Ikhlaas one will be saved from Hellfire and granted a lofty position in Jannah. [And they give food out of love for (Allah ta’ala) to the needy, the orphan and the captive. (Saying) "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah, we wish no reward from you nor gratitude. Indeed, we fear from our Lord a Day severe and distressful. So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness. And will reward them for what they patiently endured (with) a garden (in Jannah) and silk (garments).] Surah Ihsan 76/8-12

Dear brothers and sisters, we must understand that there are certain things that contradict our Ikhlaas to Allah. Of these things are three, Reyaa', Sum'ah and 'Ujb.

Reyaa' is to perform an act of worship with the intention of showing it off to people, seeking their praise or some other vanity. Thus this person is seeking to be glorified or praised or hoped for or feared through this action. An example of this would be such as donating a large sum of money in order that people may think the contributor is generous.

Sum'ah is similar to Reyaa', but as the Ulumaa' have said, it is those verbal statements that a person does for the sake of people. Such as someone making ballooned threats against the Jews in Philisteen just so others would think he is courageous.

Ibn Al-Mubaarak – rahimahullaah – said, "Perhaps a great deed is belittled by an intention. And perhaps a small deed, by a sincere intention, is made great."

'Ujb is the cousin of Reyaa'. It is when a person becomes impressed with himself for the 'great' deeds that he has done.

This and all the other types are viruses that can kill our actions and turn them against us on the day of Resurrection.

Ya’qoob al-Makfoof – rahimahullah – used to say, “The sincere one is he who hides his good deeds in the same way that he would hide his bad.”

From the Seerah, as Sa’d ibn Waqqaas narrates: … as for Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl, (after the conquest of Makkah) while escaping by sea, a terrible storm befell them. The owners of the boat shouted, “At this moment pray to only God and pray sincerely, for your gods cannot avail us in any way through salvation from this storm.” ‘Ikrimah said, “By Allah, if Ikhlaas can only save me on the sea, then on land nothing but it can save me.” (He then raised his hands and pronounced), “O Allah if you save me, you have upon me an oath that I shall not rest until I arrive at Muhammad – sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam – and place my hand in his."

He then came to Rasul Allah – sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam – became Muslim, and was later martyred in Jihaad.

Sincerity is a topic that is not only key to Islam, but it is also a subject that the Kuffaar and philosophers have pondered for centuries. The English have a saying that goes to the effect of: To hunt with the lantern of Diogenes.
Diogenes was a Cynic Greek philosopher who lived about 320 years before Prophet Eesa – alayhis salam. He believed there was no sincerity – no Ikhlaas – in any human being. To vividly prove his point, he was said to have gone about the streets of Corinth in broad daylight with a lighted lantern looking for a sincere man. From here the English coined the term To hunt with the lantern of Diogenes when speaking of a group of people whose sincerity is extremely absent.

Indeed insincerity in our actions is something very dangerous and can lead a person to ruin. Ibn Masood – radi Allahu ‘anhu – would advise his students, “If your intention is one of these three, do not seek knowledge: To shame the ignorant, or to argue with the Fuqahaa’, or to cause people to turn their faces in your direction. Intend with your actions and words that which is with Allah, for indeed that which is with Allah shall remain and everything else shall perish.”

In conclusion, Ibn Al-Qayyim – rahimahullaah – said, “Deeds without sincerity are like a traveler who carries in his water-jug dirt. The carrying of it burdens him and it brings no benefit.”

May Allah ta'ala make us all from those whose deeds are done in accordance with the Sunnah, deeds that are done sincerely for the sake of Allah.

On cinserity

By Sheikh Abdul Qadir al Jilani

It was in the schoolhouse, in the late evening of Tuesday, the 19th of
Shawwal, A.H. 545, that the Shaikh (may Allah be well pleased with
him) said:

The pious pretender [mura'i] wears clean clothes, but his heart is
filthy. He abstains from permissible things, and is too lazy to earn a
livelihood. He eats off his religion, and exercises no self-restraint
at all. He consumes things that are explicitly forbidden [haram]. His
game may be hidden from the common folk ['awamm], but it is not
concealed from the Elite [khawass]. His asceticism [zuhd] and obedient
worship [ta'a] are all superficial. His external facade is splendidly
fashioned, but his interior is a ruin.

Woe unto you! Obedient service to Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He)
is performed by the heart [qalb], not the outer mold [qalab]. All
these things are connected with hearts, innermost beings and spiritual
qualities [ma'ani]. Strip yourself bare of what you now have on, so
that I may get for you from the Lord of Truth (Almighty and Glorious
is He) an outfit that will never wear out. Get undressed so that He
may clothe you. Take off the garment of your indifference to the
rights [huquq] of Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He). Take off the
garment of your attachment to creatures and your idolization [shirk]
of them. Take off the garment of lust, frivolity, conceit and
hypocrisy, of your love of being acceptable to people and having them
approach you and bring you gifts. Take off the clothing of this world,
and put on the clothing of the hereafter. Divest yourself of your
power, your strength and your very existence [wujud], and throw
yourself down before the Lord of Truth (Almighty and Glorious is He)
without power, without strength, without attachment to material means
[sabab], and without idolatrous worship of any created thing. Then, if
you do this, you will see His gracious favors all around you. His
mercy will come to join you, and His blessing and benefit will clothe
you and enfold you in their embrace. Flee to Him. Dedicate yourself
wholly to Him, naked, with no you and no one other than you. Move
toward Him in isolation, distinct from any other than Him. Move toward
Him separately, apart, until He joins and connects you to your inner
and outer forces [quwa zahirika wa-batinika]. Even if He were to close
the whole universe [al-akwan] against you, and make you carry all its
burdens, this would do you no harm; not at all, for He would protect
you throughout.

When someone blots out creatures by virtue of his realization of Unity
[tawhid], blots out this world by virtue of his renunciation [zuhd],
and blots out everything else apart from his Lord (Almighty and
Glorious is He) by virtue of his longing, that person is completely
prepared for righteousness [salah] and success [najah], and he will
enjoy the all the blessings of this world and the hereafter. You must
experience the mortification of your lower selves, your desires and
your devils, before you die. Experience the special death [al-mawt
al-khass] before the common death [al-mawt al-'amm].

O my people! Respond to me, for I am the crier of Allah (Almighty and
Glorious is He), calling you to His door and His obedient service. I
am not calling you to myself. The hypocrite does not call the people
to Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He); he is a self-promoter. He is
looking for favors and acceptance, seeking worldly gain.

O ignorant one, you give up listening to words like these, and sit
there in your cell, with only your own self and your passions for
company! What you need first is the fellowship of the Shaikhs
[shuyukh], and the slaying of the lower self, the natural instincts
and everything apart from the Master (Almighty and Glorious is He).
You must stay by the door of their houses, I mean the Shaikhs', then
after that you may go off by yourself, and sit in your cell alone with
the Lord of Truth (Almighty and Glorious is He). When this has been
fully accomplished by you, you will come to be a remedy for the
people, a rightly guided guide [hadi mahdi] by permission of the Lord
of Truth (Almighty and Glorious is He).

As you are now, your tongue is pious [wari'], but your heart is
immoral [fajir]. Your tongue praises Allah (Almighty and Glorious is
He), while your heart resists Him. Your outer being is a Muslim, but
your inner is an unbeliever [kafir]. Your outer is a monotheist
[muwahhid], but your inner is a polytheist [mushrik].

Your asceticism [zuhd] is part of your facade. Your religion [din] is
part of your facade. Inwardly, you are a mess. It is like whitewash on
the water closet, i.e. the toilet, or a lock on the garbage can. Since
this is how you are, Satan has set up camp in your heart and made it a
place for him to live in.

The believer starts with the development of his inner being, then
tackles the development of his outer being. Someone who is
constructing a house will spend large sums of money on its interior
while the gateway is just rubble; he will leave fixing the entrance
until after he has completed the main building. One must likewise
begin with Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He) and earning His good
pleasure [rida], and then pay attention to creatures with His
permission. The first stage is to acquire [tahsil] the hereafter, and
only then to obtain one's allotted shares [aqsam] in this world.
