In 1996, I noticed that Jewish children were invited to the White House to commemorate Hanukkah. Similarly, I noticed that Christian children were invited for Easter Egg hunts and to light the national Christmas tree.
I noticed no program for Muslim children. I wrote several times to the White House and was invited to have the first commemoration/observation of Ramadan at the White House. It was indeed historic. Former First Lady hosted a delegation of Muslim youth and the program continued throughout the Clinton Administration.
The Bush Administration politicized it but inviting only ambassadors from Muslim nations in Washington, DC.
