Water

Allah refers to the most natural and yet the most miraculous substance of this earth; water, numerous times in the Holy Qur'an. Water itself is a sign from Allah for those who believe.

"It is He who down rain from the sky, and with it we bring forth vegetation of all kinds, and out of it we bring forth green stalks, from which we bring forth thick clustered grain. And out of the date-palm and its spathe comes forth clusters of dates hanging low and near, and gardens of grapes, olives and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety and taste). Look at their fruits when they begin to bear, and the ripeness thereof. Verily! In these things there are signs for people who believe." (Qur'an, 6:99)

How amazing is it when one observes how each fruit, whether it is grapes, olives or pomegranates, looks alike in its species, and yet each variety is different in flavour, consistency, shape, colour, proportion of seed to fruit etc.

"Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then we parted them? And we have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? (Qur'an 21:30)

About 72% of the surface of the globe is still covered with water, it has been estimated that if the inequalities on the surface were all levelled, the whole surface would be under water, as the mean elevation of the land sphere-level would be 7,000 - 10,000 feet below the surface of the ocean. This shows the predominance of water in our globe. Every living thing is made out of water.

Protoplasm, the original basis of living matter, is liquid or semi liquid and in a state of constant flow and instability is comprised of about 80 – 85% water.
